Questions on returning XBOX ONE for disc tray issues.

Hello everyone. I am reaching out to all of you to get some answers from others who have had the same problem with their XBOX One and have sent it back to have it repaired.

My issue is that my Day One unit will no longer play discs. Any of them. So with my warranty about to expire I sent it back to have it repaired. I had a hard time with the Fed Ex center that I had sent it back from. I chose and paid through Microsoft
to return it as an expedited shipping option using a local Fed Ex facility. I believe it costs $10.50 because it covers shipping and Fed Ex will pack it up for you. I printed my receipt, grabbed my XBOX One and went to the Fed Ex facility. Once I got there
showed my receipt with the SR # on it, the rep (Site Manager) had no idea what I was doing or what I had already paid for. So either way he took it packed it up, gave my customer receipt and tracking number.

Now my questions are:

• Have you had this issue?
• Did you send it in?
• Did you get back?
• Was it repaired?
• Have you had issues with the unit since the repair?
• Should I have copied all of my games off of it?
• Does the Microsoft repair facility wipe out my hard drive?
• Was your unit replaced with a new one? If so how did you get your game saves?
  

As you may be able to tell I am very worried over the status of my unit, and my game saves which I did not copy because no where in the return instructions does it say to do so. In the past I have had a nightmare scenario with two XBOX One controllers that
needed repair, and the return shipping on each of those was poor to say it nicely.

So just looking out to all of you consumers out there for some advice or experience. Thanks.

Disc tray question

Hi I have a question about the durability about the disc tray. Whenever I remove at disc or put one in the tray I press down on the tray ever so slightly. I was just wondering if this could crack or bend the disc tray? Or is it well made? My Xbox is a slim
if that matters. Thanks for any help.

 

My Xbox 360 won't read some discs. Help?

I am having trouble with my xbox (My xbox is one of the older versions not the slim one) reading discs. It says "open tray" almost everytime I insert a disc. The weird thing is that It's not having any issues when I try to play Halo 3,Halo 4 and NBA 2k12 . But when I try to play some of my others games like NBA 2k13,Battlefield 3 (This one is brand new) ,GTA IV,MW2,Bioshock 2 my xbox won't read the disc or after opening and closisng the tray a lot of times it will read the games but then I get the "Disc is Unreadable." message after a few minutes. Does anyone else have experienced this issue?

 

Whether they repair it or send you a new one, don't worry about your saves they are saved on the cloud. They will probably wipe your hard drive if they send you a new one. That way someone else doesn't have your gamertag and saves. Your gamertag links
and shows which games are tied to you based on your profile in the cloud. Any dlc can be redownloaded at no cost.. The only thing you may be out is the time it takes to re-install everything if you do get a new one and not your old one back. Once you get
the next one in, be sure and register it online and you should get another warranty for the new xbox. Yes I have gone through this process. Good luck.

 

Thanks a lot for the reply Rod. I am a little more at ease with this process now, and I never thought about the cloud. I hope this goes well. I also hope that this disc loading thing just becomes a thing of the past.

 

The disc not being recognized was the exact same problem I had with my day one. I received a new one fairly quickly, less than a week. Wasn't a day one but I was back and running. Hope everything goes smoothly for you.
