Questions about the Xbox App, Future Playability of Xbox Games, Hardware Feedback, and...

    Dear Xbox Team,

I would like to share some questions and suggestions regarding the current and future development of the Xbox platform:

    4K Streaming and Xbox App:

    • When will the 4K streaming option for cloud gaming be introduced?
    • Will the Xbox app on PC support cloud gaming directly in the future?
    Future of the Xbox Platform:

I’ve purchased around 450 Xbox games over the past four years, and I’m thinking about the long-term future of the platform. Should Microsoft eventually shift to being solely a publisher and discontinue Xbox consoles, it’s crucial to me that my purchased games remain playable beyond cloud gaming.

    My suggestion:
In such a case, the Xbox app on PC should allow users to install and play all Xbox games directly — without being forced to rely on cloud gaming.
An integrated Xbox console emulation within the app would be the ideal solution. I’m not asking for offline support — but the games should be able to run locally on a Windows PC independent of cloud streaming, ensuring no compromise in quality.

This solution would guarantee that digital purchases remain accessible without depending entirely on streaming services or specific hardware.

    Hardware and Controller Feedback:

I also have some suggestions for improving Xbox hardware and controllers:

    • Temporary installation storage: Currently, game updates often require 50–70 GB of free space for temporary files. A dedicated cache storage for installations could solve this problem.
    • Dust protection: A better dust protection system for the console — for example, removable and cleanable filters — would prevent dust buildup inside the console.
    • Controller connections: Instead of the current Connect button, a switch for connection modes would be helpful, allowing users to actively switch between devices:
      • Channel 1: Xbox
      • Channel 2: PC
      • Channel 3: Smartphone
This would prevent the Xbox from automatically turning on when I just want to use the controller for my PC or phone.
    • Sustainability: Xbox controllers should be more modular, allowing users to easily replace buttons, sticks, and triggers when they break. Over the last four years, I’ve had to replace three controllers and contact support twice. The hardware should be designed for longevity to reduce e-waste.
    • More USB ports: Additional USB ports on the Xbox would be useful to connect headsets, external drives, and other accessories simultaneously.
Storage Compatibility for Future Xbox Consoles:

I hope that the current storage expansions purchased for the Xbox Series X will also be compatible with the upcoming Xbox Next, which is expected to release in 2026 or 2027. I’ve purchased a 2 TB storage and would like to continue using it without having to invest in new storage solutions.

    My Wish:

I realize that these improvements could make the console more expensive — but if Xbox offers truly unique features, I would be willing to pay for groundbreaking innovations. The “console wars” may be unnecessary, but having a clear technological advantage could help Xbox stand out in the long run.

I hope this feedback helps improve the Xbox platform and its hardware. I look forward to hearing back from you regarding my questions and suggestions!

    Best regards
    Patrik

    :)

    There are.modular controllers

But it's extremely expensive just like the modular phones were

A modular controller with official license will cost you from 130 for wired to 300 dollars with next gen features

Programmable buttons , ondevice profile switching,, fully user repairable with parts linked to fixit online shop. To next gen hall effect sticks

I think it was ceil controllers that was supposed to be released as elite 3 but didn't happen with the samr features

The website she's referring to hasn't worked in years. this is the official request line

    https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxinsiders/wiki/xboxrequests/

we have no insider information as to the future of the Xbox program. No one expects it to be going anywhere

Xbox is not a PC, and while it shares many tech technologies, it is radically different in many important areas and you cannot just play Xbox games on a PC. The reason why Xbox 360 backwards compatibility works is because the hardware was designed from the ground up to facilitate it which can't happen on a PC. There are special extensions in the CPU specifically for this purpose that do not exist on any other chips. this is why 360 backwards compatibility is not on PC

Xbox controller is already support multiple simultaneous devices by double clicking the bind button you can switch between Xbox and Bluetooth modes

Xbox has an excellent history for over a decade of making sure that previous peripheral function, but we can make no guarantees

    Hello!

Hope you are well. I'll be glad to assist you.

I understand your concerns and appreciate you sharing your feedback.

Currently, Microsoft has not announced any updates regarding 4K cloud gaming, so we’ll have to wait for future news.

Regarding your concern about Xbox consoles and licenses, there is no official information suggesting that Microsoft will stop producing them, so there’s no need to worry.

Your suggestions are great and would certainly help Xbox stand out while benefiting gamers. The best place to share your ideas directly with the Xbox team is through the official feedback portal:

    http://feedback.xbox.com/

I hope the information has been clear, I will be attentive to any questions you may have.

    Best Regards.

Why is the Xbox App Still Broken After All These Years?!

Are you talking about the Xbox app or the Xbox BETA app. As i have the Beta installed and it works great so far, no issues at all.

They are working on getting more features added to the app in the future, they getting feedback from the community on what they want added to the app.
