Questions about sharing DLC, home/guest consoles.......will this work and is it ...

Okay, this might have been asked and answered before but here goes.

I have an XB1. My son has an XB1. Both consoles are in the same household. I have the digital versions of Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2; he has the disc versions. We both have ALL of the DLC purchased for both games on both consoles individually, including
VIP on both games on both profiles. This question applies to the DIGITAL versions, but also to future games and DLC such as Forza 6.

Here is what I want to do.

1. Put MY profile on my son's console, passworded so he cannot use my profile. HIS console will be listed as my HOME console (so that my digital versions of FM5 and FH2 and all DLC will be available to him). This way he won't need to use the discs anymore.

2. Put HIS profile on my console, passworded so I cannot use his profile. MY console will be listed as his HOME console (so that he can share his Xbox Live subscription with me).

Because I own the licenses for all the DLC and digital versions of FM5 and FH2, will he be able to use that on HIS console (which will be MY home console)? And will I be able to use his Xbox Live 'shared' on my console, with it listed as HIS home console?
And most importantly - can we BOTH be online at the same time playing the same game, accessing each other's paid-for content without issues? In other words - HE will be using my digital version of FM5, while I am also using the digital version of FM5 because
my profile OWNS the license for it, but HIS console is my "home" console with the license on it?

I'm just trying to figure out if this will work because I'm tired of "double paying" if I don't have to. From what I'm reading on the Xbox Live rules and terms of service, it seems like this is absolutely and 100% legit and legal and considered "fair
use". PROJECT CARS is coming and if I can buy ONE digital version we can both use, and the same with all of the DLC, I'd really rather not spend an extra $100 if I don't really have to. I'm just wondering if any of YOU have actually done this and had no
issues with it. Thanks!

Sharing Profiles vs. Allowing "Guest" Profiles

@GG sorry I thought this was a XO forum, according to MS on the Xbox one you have a guest accounts.

If you use the guest account and try to access content that is rated higher than the
account’s settings allow, the console will prompt you for the guest key, which will allow you to override these restrictions. Your host will have to provide the six-digit guest key.

Maybe use the correct wording in the title to avoid confusing.

I sign into my xbox one with my account details, which gives me access to my profile, so your right there is a difference, but you can't share your profile without sharing your account.

Absolutely not. Account sharing is strictly prohibited as per the Terms of Use.

If you're in the same household, this is exactly how the system was intended.

You will both be able to be online and playing the same game at the same time doing this - you could even be playing multiplayer together.

Note: remote downloads will download to your Home console. So if you buy a game, it will automatically download to your son's console (your Home), whether he wants it or not. If you want to download it on your own console, you have to trigger it manually.
That is the only issue you will run into. If you have a bandwidth/download cap for the month, this is worth being aware of if all games are getting downloaded twice.

What I mean is, put the gold on your son's account instead of yours, not buying a 2nd gold subscription on his account.

As far as your questions about buying 2 games/DLC, it would work the same as gold sharing does. You can only share on the Home console.

Not all DLC is shared by doing the home console sharing. It is up to the developer as to how it works with each DLC.

Unfortunately, Activision is sometimes very strict about the Home Console sharing of DLC content.

While you can share the Destiny base game, some expansion DLCs can't be "Home Console" shared.

You might have to have the other account that purchased the game signed in on another controller.

Yes, if you don't own the games on your profile (I.E, they are his games), then you will not be able to play them.
