    Question: Xbox One & Dorming

I'm planning on brining my Xbox One to the dorm with me. I've decided to bring this as opposed to my 360 because I can use the headphone jack on the controller to watch Netflix and play games without disturbing anyone, but that's besides the point.

Has anyone had/have experience with bring their xbox to the dorm? I need help on choosing or how to store it and security. Hopefully I'm asking the right questions.

Thank you guys hopefully I can get some great feedback!

    :)

    Question: Xbox One & Dorming

If your room is private and secure then you just need to keep a good lock on your door.

If the box is going in a common area then depending on how many different people have access to this common areao it's only a matter of time before your console is possibly stolen and definately damanged.

Thanks for the reply! I'll be in a dorm room with just me and my one roommate. I'm pretty careful with my stuff. Just wondering if there was such a thing where I can store it in a shelf/something I can use as a TV stand as well because the room is fairly
small. It's gonna be on top of a desk btw.

  6. Will you be using the Kinect in the dorm? I can see how that might present some issues if you do.

In all honestly, I can do without it, but I still wanna use it here and there. But if there's a way I could store the xbox, and the kinect has to be unattactched, I'm fine with that .

    Question: Xbox One & Dorming

It's a good way to meet people. I brought a big screen and a futon. My roommate brought a 360 and a n64. There was always people hanging out in our room.

Just make sure you lock up when ever you walk away. Make sure your roommate does the same. You might be able to get one of those usb bike lock looking things.

    Maybe something like this??

Just out of curiosity, how would I use the bike lock? Like wrap around the console on a desk or something? Just wondering, I've never used it other than a bike lol.

  10. Hey man I just moved back into my home to commute for University, but I stayed there for three years. Go to a Best Buy and get a Def Con cable. It clicks and locks the backside of the xbox down to a piece of furniture. And bring an ethernet cable to hook
your console up directly, wifi in dorms suck more than McDonald's free wifi. Usually with games and controllers i'd lock them in a foot chest with a pad lock.

I think the USB locks inside the usb port. You wrap the cord around a bed pole, a pipe or something that isn't going anywhere. But I'm still unsure if the computer locks work for the xbox one.

    Question: Xbox One & Dorming

I'd suggest living with your roomie for a few weeks first. If they turn out to be reliable & responsible, sure - send for your toys. If they never lock the door, or host the floor parties in your room all the time, or have a hustling side-business with neer-do-wells
constantly swinging by to score - you might want to reconsider.
