Question on 1080p and console settings

Hi,

I'm sure everybody else has answered this question 10 years ago but I've been playing on my 360 with a VGA adapter on a quite odl PC monitor for the last years so I never came in touch with this problems. Question on 1080p and console settings :)

But now I bought an Xbox One and a nice new Full HD TV.

The console is set to 1080p.

My question: should I switch the console to 720p or 900p when I play a game that has native 720p/900p? Does that matter?

When I play for example GTA 5 (that is native 1080p) it looks perfectly sharp and everything is crisp and fine. But when I play Batman Arkham Knight (native 900p) I have the feeling that switching my console to 720p makes the game look better.

Or is this pure imagination?

I just think tha scaling the resolution of a 720p game up to 1080p might cause performance issues or could let the game look worse...

Do you know someting about this or have some experiences?

Thank you!!

:)

Does the Xbox 360 support 1080p or not?
a lot of games DO NOT RUN at 1080P
That's not the question. The question is if the console supports 1080p. It does.
And that's
a strength of the 360. Unlike certain other consoles, you can set the resolution on the 360 and forget it. The hardware takes care of scaling final output to whatever the console is set to.

Question about XBOX ONE RESOLUTION SETTINGS

I have a beautiful 1080p televison at my house, but I came to camp for sometime where I have a fairly decent 32 inch 720p televison. ( I know it is 720p one hundred percent sure, I have the box and it clearly says on the tv)

My question is, when I go to video setting and get the console to pick the best resolution it automatically picks 1080p, which I think looks better. There is a clear difference between setting the console to 1080p and 720p, again my televison is 720p.

Now my question is what benefits/cons am I getting selecting 1080p, other then a bit of noticable color banding? It is just adding fake pixels am I correct? Would I get a more raw or natural looking game selecting 720p which is what my telvison is?

I hope I explained this well

Question on 1080p and console settings

Hi

If the television supports a 1080P signal then just set the console up to this resolution and enjoy playing the games there is no need to change the console to lower resolutions when playing some games.

5. And just to add that 900p is 1600x900 resolution and 720p is 1280x720. So putting your console into 720p would make games look worse, not better.

In any case, the Xbox One isn't like a PC - Xbox games all run at an native resolution internally and will use hardware scaling to get to 1080P - if said game is not already rendering at that resolution in the first place. Changing the console resolution
will have zero effect on performance.

it leaves it up to the console hardware to upscale the resoultion to the desired settings.

Xbox One TV resolution vs. Windows 10 streaming resolution

Yes, I understand that the Xbox One can stream in 1080p, but my question is whether that is still the case when the console is set to 720p output for my TV?

Xbox One TV resolution vs. Windows 10 streaming resolution

I can answer my own question here that the Xbox One will stream at whatever resolution it is set to in the settings, so if I set the console to 720p it will stream at 720p. It isn't possible to pass a 720p signal out the HDMI output, but use a 1080p output
for streaming (unless you constantly change the settings back and forth).

The PC will scale to full screen no matter what, but 1080p looks much better than 720p on a 1080p monitor. The problem is if I set to 1080p when streaming to my PC and forget about it, then the next time when I try to use my TV I would get garbled graphics
because it can't accept the 1080p output, so I would need to go back upstairs and stream to my PC to reset the settings to 720p before I can use the TV again.

How I solved this problem was to use an HDFury 4S scaler to connect to my TV and scale the Xbox One down from 1080p to 1080i, which is the maximum resolution of my gaming TV. That allows me to keep the Xbox One console set on 1080p at all times.
