Question for parents with older children (into the double digits)

I'm a father of a 2 yr old girl. My qustion is how did you fit parenting, work, and gaming into your schedule when your your children were younger? I'll be honest, i've been a stay at home dad for the last year. But I'll be re-entering the work force soon.
I've found that the only game time i've had is naps and bedtime. When I go back to work I'm sure it'll be even less. I'm just wondering how children may have changed the type of games you play, when you play, or who you play with. When and how did you choose
to introduce games to your children? Just looking for some insight on what to expect from my hobby over the next 10 years or so.

    :)

    A question for gamer parents.

Hello all. I posted this in the gamer parents forum but sadly I fear not many people are aware that there is a gamer parents forum as it doesn't receive much traffic. Any way I thought I'd post here. I'm a father of a two year old girl. My question is
aimed at parent gamers who have older children( in the double digits) but anyone can respond.how has having children changed the type of game you play, when you play, and who you play with? Also how and at what age did you choose to introduce your child to
video games? I'm just looking for a little insight as to what I can expect to get out of my hobby for the next 10 years or so. Right now I'm s stay at home dad but will be reentering the work force soon. The only time I get to really play anything is naps
and bedtime and I'm sure it'll be even less once I go back to work. Thoughts, advice, suggestions?

Why you don't want to buy an Xbox for your children

100% agreed. I'm also tired of people defending MS on the grounds that they are the best parents, never leave their child unattended, that their child would never do such a thing, etc. You may be experiencing something very different than the parents that
are begging for this assistance of a simple 4 digit PIN. There are many different types of children.

@IAsh, I understand where you are coming from, but what's the point? The only way to solve this is for parents to pay attention to what their children play and people will have to start upholding the ESRB rating, but like the EULA of videogames, parents
don't care and some just think "my child won't become like that". I too have proven that I'm mature enough to play games like this when I was younger, which is why my parents don't worry about what I play anymore. I even shy away from games that are too violent,
such as STATE OF EMERGENCY. Enough about me though, my point is that this is a reality that older players must face. Kids will gain access to M-Rated games; it's a fact, and it happens either through parents' carelessness, underestimataion of their children,
or children getting their parents or older adult figure to but it for them, without giving away all the details.

I was kind of hoping that the XB1 would attract older gamers, but after a few games with parents playing and the children blairing into the Mic, I don't know who I want to game with at this date and time.

Teenagers are a pain and parents are too occupied during gaming. The concept of Mic chat is great though lol

I'm not a parent but i have a question for parents.

Well im a parent . Its a parents job to protect their children from the freaks of this world because noone else will.

There has always been nasty ppl in this world who enjoy inflicting pain upon others espeacialy on innocent ie children but due to the invention of the internet and other online social sources this gives those sick ppl more access to children and as gaming
and internet are a part of childrens everyday life now then parental controls are the only way a parent can protect you from these ppl.

I know children think this is just a way for parents to control your fun but that isnt so if you look around these forums your read tales of children having their accounts hacked and being racially abused and i read the other day of some1 sending a child
    pictures of his genitals..

Now i know you may say yes but this happens in every day life outside the house but that is something a parent cant control as much, letting our children be subjected to this in our own homes is wrong .

If your under 18 your still a minor ( uk laws ) and are still classed as a child..Seems unfair yes as there are alot of mature young aduts like your self aand your best bet is to sit down with your parents and ask what it is they are afraid of by keeping
the controls on and convinse them you understand and that your mature enough now to judge ppl yourself.

We were all children once we all know what parents were like and its not antill your older that you will realise why they did what they did

XBox LIVE Shut Down For Gambling?

Speaking for myself, I always ask whether a digital purchase will add to my experience overall or not. If the answer is yes, then I may take steps to buy it. Most people are smart enough to figure things out on their own. As for kids spending their own parent's
money? That's wrong, and if the parents are good parents (everyone makes mistakes), their children will quickly learn a much-needed lesson.
