Question about Xbox One/Windows 10 streaming

    Question about Xbox One/Windows 10 streaming


    I love the idea of this, the Wife moans I hog the TV too much and she gets stuck watching Netflix or something on the iPad so at least now I can leave her have the TV some time.

    I have a few questions:

    1. A lot of us have our TV's plugged in through our Xbox One's (as we were meant to do). Will my Wife still be able to watch the TV (and also the other Apps such as netflix) whilst I'm gaming on the PC or would she just get to see the game I'm playing (like
    steam stream) because if not it kind of defeats the object for most people as the only reason I'd do this would be so my Wife could have the TV for a while (Ok I might have the odd game of Fifa in bed on my Surface when I get one). Given the way I think the
    One works (V-Machines) I'd think this should be possible.

    2. Kinda goes against question 1 but I'm just interested, would the Apps be stream-able, particularly the TV App, I could kill my Sky Multi-Room Sub if it could (and that's why I doubt this will happen, sky would go mad and block the Xbox from working with
    the Sky Box somehow)

    3. Would this work over a VPN? I have FTTC at home and in the office, I'd love to grab a quick game of Forza 5 at lunch time

    4. Will this App be on the insider preview next week, I've got to get it and go through it for work anyway, as already planning on updating a few schools and businesses I look after to Win 10 once it's fully released given that it's free, so it would be
    nice to have something fun to look at in between testing tons of boring work things.

    Thank you for replying - but that link is for mobile devices specifically, not Windows 10 devices, which is what the OP was asking about.

    Currently, the Xbox Console Companion streaming still works on Windows 10. The reason OP was asking about the Xbox app on Windows 10 is because the Xbox Console Companion app is prompting users to install the Xbox app, which does not have streaming support.
    I know that there is supposed to be a new Console Streaming app on Windows 10 later this year, but it is not available yet. I was just clarifying that for the OP and anyone else asking the same question about the new app, since I came here with the same question.

    Are you trying to stream a game from Xbox 360 to Windows 10? That's not supported - the media center of old was for streaming videos and songs.

    There is a way to stream Xbox 360 games to Windows 10, but it involved using an Xbox One and playing the backwards compatible Xbox 360 on the Xbox 360, then streaming the Xbox One to Windows 10.
