Question about Xbox One Parental Controls

    Hello,

I am looking to potentially upgrade to an Xbox One from Xbox 360 but had a few concerns/questions about how parental controls and security work on Xbox One vs. 360.

My biggest concerns are limiting ability to access the internet and limiting the ability to download/add apps. I would prefer to not deal with sub accounts if at all possible.

If I limit internet access using my account, does it require that a pass key be used to change that setting?

I have the same question really for adding app's. Is that part of the security/parental controls? And if so, does a pass key prevent someone from changing this setting?

    Thank you for any help!

    :)

Hi Taweto. It's all about the content settings your parental account designates. Here is our

Set parental controls for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE
article, which explains what you can limit, and how to change those limits. Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks.

You have complete control over any aspect of the account whether that be online xbox live gaming, internet explorer access, app downloading and so on. Anything that your concerned about can be controlled and password protected. You can also make free Xbox
live gold sub accounts that you can control everything on. I'm mentioning this last because u said you wanted one account although I will say its easier to have separate for each user and you control everything they do through settings and password.

  5. Also I forgot to mention on Xbox one once you own one gold account you can make as many free new gold accounts as you want in your household. On Xbox 360 you would have to pay 60$ for each whereas all you need on Xbox one is one gold subscription then other
    accounts are free.

Thank you. So then if I limit use of internet explorer and downloading/installing app's, no one can change that unless they have the password to do so? I assume that is the passkey I have seen on the website?

That's great news about sub accounts. I did not realize that they were free on Xbox One as I am more familiar with the Xbox 360 method.

    Translation:

    How to remove parental control

    Response:

    Hi there,

with parental control, do you mean parental control on your account or do you mean the family passcode and security question on the console?

    - If it's parental control only the parental account is able to change the settings

    - If it's about a family passcode and security question, then you will have to contact official Xbox Support (via Phone), they will need some information about the console and will be able to assist you any further.

To contact official Xbox Support (via Phone) use

Keep in mind that the issue selected determines the contact options shown.

Family account & the games exceptions

    Hi Ruffer,

Great question! Allow me to elaborate.

Unfortunately there is no 'exception' list. Parental controls are a blanket, so to speak, as you set the rating level in the parental controls.

    Here is our
    Xbox Parental Control
support article if you have anymore questions on that.
