Question about Xbox Consoles' stock in India

this is a tech support for him and no one here at Support has any information on stock levels. You should contact a local retailer to inquire when they expect more, as they will have far better and more current information than we would ever be able to have

There obviously is a chip shortage - but the main reason for Xbox Series X not being available in India is just because of the below issues

(i) Preferential allocation of available stock to specific sellers in India, that too of very minimal numbers (not even 1% of the demand)

(ii) Promoting scalpers are able to buy them at MRP from major online stores (they buy it at MRP from approved sellers, and quickly list it at Quikr, eBay etc., for atleast 40% or more profit)

(iii) Microsoft considers India as a growing market, and grossly under-estimated its selling capacity in India - still keeps allocating all its new stock to American/Europe/Middle East market, instead of a vast market like India

(iv) Microsoft lets their approved sellers enjoy this peak demand, as even approved sellers selling at MRP tend to make better profit - hence retaining their seller base for the next product releases

(v) They would like to sell Series S product which has no demand worldwide, and easily available

(vi) Microsoft doesn't have a manufacturing plant in India - so they have to import products to India (which involves red-taping as well)

(vii) They will never take the risk of alloting more units to India - if unsold, the price will go down drastically, leading to a huge loss to their distributors and retailers

Possibly, even if they produce more Series X consoles per day, they are happy to sell the over-stocked Series S right now in India and redirect the stock of Series X to other markets. I also doubt, if there is a next gen console brought around 2026, it will also have the same fate - they would happily let the Indian retailers enjoy more profit, rather than add more consoles to India.

Ok; my next question is what region code are India consoles supposed to be? Your US purchased console is an NTSC. I suspect that consoles from India are PAL (like in Europe). If that's the case, it's likely because you're in a PAL region trying to download
onto an NTSC console, that's why it isn't working.

There is limited supplies of both the PS5 & Xbox Series consoles due to the chip shortage.

Only the other day Sony said that they don't expect stocks of the PS5 to get to anywhere near normal until at least 2022 so it's the same for everyone.

Even if you could pre order a console you would still have to wait.

Not sure how it is in India but over here you can sign up for alerts that will let you know when various retailers have stock in but like i said earlier,you need to be quick.
