Question about the new dashboard that will be added in a future update

The reason you're not able to do this yet is that these buttons are not reprogrammable yet. This is a future feature which should be added in the Spring of this year, presumably via a controller update included in a future dashboard update. Unfortunately
there's not a more exact timeline for this right now.

Microsoft will also be doing multiple updates in the future to make the dashboard better depending on user feedback. New features will likely appear in the future.

Sorry, it's not possible for any new consoles to be added to the dashboard beta as registration is closed. You'd only be able to purchase content on any console that currently has the beta dashboard update for the time being. This dashboard update is scheduled
to be released sometime later this year (Fall 2013, no date confirmed). You'd need to wait until then to be able to make sure of the currency in your account.

currently no new games will be added to the games that support backwards compatibility.

If new games are added in future is unknown, no official news is present about that.
