Question about the Gamertag swap between MS accounts.

I'd like some clarification or first hand experiences from someone who has done the gamertag swap using this support guide:

I've contacted Xbox support multiple times and they've told me that this procedure retains my achievements, purchased game & DLC licenses and game save licenses after the transfer, however I feel like they are always misunderstanding my intent when I go
to this problem with them...

My issue is this. I have two Microsoft accounts:

MS account 1 & Gamertag A

This account has all my game licenses, game saves, achievements, gamerscore etc. but I don't like the gamertag. The next account is....

MS account 2 & Gamertag B

No purchases have been made on this account, and it has no achievements or saves I care about. The gamertag of this account is nice though and I want to use it.

When I explain this issue to the support, they give me the above link and tell me my achievements and other data WILL be located on MS account 1, with Gamertag B now as my gamertag after the swap.

Sounds simple enough, but I don't understand how this procedure would not simply replace my MS acc 1 achis/save/game license data with that of MS acc 2/Gamertag B. I want to keep my data. All I want is the name. Support never says "no we can't do this", which
implies that support document is what I need... But when I read it, all I get out of it is "you will have to use the license data from the gamertag you want to use".

Where are the achi/game license/save/gamerscore data kept anyway? I thought they were locked under the gamer profile/gamertag, but recently support has been saying this is stored in your Microsoft account...

Hey there Paper! Just to confirm, you have your main profile (GT1) attached to its original email (MSA1), and then you created a second email (MSA2) to switch it to. However, that email got attached to a this Gamertag (GT2). Does that sounds about right?

If so, you'll need to swap the MS Accounts between the two. You will need to create a third MS Account as a dummy and then follow the steps in our "Questions
about a Microsoft account or a gamertag" guide under the "Why do I get a “The Microsoft account (or Windows Live ID) you’re switching to is already linked to another Xbox account” error message?" section. Let us know how that goes, thanks!

 

Change auto-created gamertag

Well, when I created my account they didn't gave me the opportunity to change the gamertag.

The other problem is that I want to swap the name between to gamertags..

 

What you wish to do is not too complicated but not that easy either. You want the gamertag that has all the achievements and such to have the name that the other account has. Since nothing can be transferred between accounts you would have to pay to change
gamertag B to something else. After a while (no way of knowing how long)the system will free up that name and you would then have to pay to change gamertag A to the name that had been gamertag B. It will cost you at least $20( $10 per name change) and there
is always the possibility that someone else could get that name before you had a chance to apply it to account 1.

 

That's good to know, I wasn't sure if renaming a gamertag frees up the old tag, and didn't really want to throw away $20 to find out. If it turns out that's my only option, then I may take it.

Annoying that the name may not free up immediately though... My old gamertag was created many years ago and there might be a chance that it would get snagged if I left it unclaimed for too long.

 

I'm trying to do the same thing as Sefferz only I don't have a 360. I have an Xbox One. Is it still possible to swap gamertags on each account?
