    Question about switching account to a different console


    So my apartment burned down in March of this year and my son and I lost everything, including his xbox. We still have an xbox live subscription, but I don't have any of our profiles backed up from the old console. Is there any way to switch the xbox live
    account to a new profile on our new console?

    Switching my gamertag to a different Microsoft account question

    Your achievements are tied to your gamertag.

    If you are just switching to another microsoft account/email, or just getting a name change for the gamertag, then they will all stay.

    If you are creating a new gamertag altogether, then it will all be back at the start.

    If you are simply changing your gamer tag you will keep all of your gamer score, achievements, MS points, etc.

    yes, that sounds about correct, please see this link explains how you can switch an xbox live account to another microsoft account (email address)

    support.xbox.com/.../switch-gamertag-to-different-microsoft-account you will likely need similar steps to the ones mentioned
    at the Notes section on that link.
