  1. Question about sharing games on several xbox ones

So my brother and I both have xbox ones in the same household. He just recently downloaded a game from a download card that he got with the console.

On my xbox, on my account, it appears that I have gotten the game installed as well. I never even noticed that it was installing before. My questions are:

1.) What is the reasoning behind this? Because my parents pay for our xbox live on the same credit card? Just trying to understand the logistics behind this.

2.) I am 18 years old and will be moving out soon. How would I be able to "replicate" this feature (if it is legal to do so of course) in the future? This would obviously save a ton of money on video games.

This 3rd question is unrelated but hopefully you guys can answer this too:

3.) If both me and my brother have an xbox one in the same house, do we have to pay for xbox live for both of our accounts? If not, how would we set that up?

Thanks to anyone who can tackle these questions for me.....it's a bit confusing

    :)

Question about sharing between 2 Xbox ones

I understand it does work but I wish Microsoft would add the ability to maybe have 2 home xboxs' to me that makes more sense than only being able to set one home Xbox. I think my wife and I should be able to play on either console at the same time. I'm not
one of those people who really likes to complain or anything and I am very happy that I am able to share my games with my wife so I don't need to purchase a second copy. I just wish it was streamlined a tiny bit more then I would say the home sharing would
be perfect. Thanks for all the input.

Question about sharing between 2 Xbox ones

The home sharing works but I think I see the problem you are having. I will explain as best I can to how it works

If you bought games using your account, you don't need to sign in to Xbox 2 (Your wife's xbox) to play them as it is your Home Xbox but, if you want play them on Xbox 1, your account needs to be signed in as it is not your Home Xbox.

That means, even if your account's main Xbox is Xbox 2, you will need to sign in as it's not your Home Xbox as locked by the system.

This happens because your Home Xbox will just know that it's your main account so it will automatically validate the game but to play it on the other Xbox, you must be signed in so that it will validate it somewhat manually through logging in but it has
to remain logged in to keep that validation.

Question about sharing games on several xbox ones

    1. The reason your brothers game downloaded to your console is because he has set your console as his Home console. Anything he sets up online or from his console will download automatically to yours.

    2. See the answer to number 1

    3. The sharing of a Gold membership is only valid on the console that the main Gold holder is on and is not transferable to other consoles. You would need to have a separate Gold membership for each console. To set something like that up you would need
either yourself or your brother (or parents) to have an account on your console then they would head to Settings and scroll right until they see Add to Family. They can add other tags to their family from there.

    Question about game sharing

    Hey Colossus1500,

Sorry for the confusion about this. I am guessing you bought the digital version of the game? What you can do is share the game with family members that are added to your account in the first console as long as your signed in that console. You can sign on
the second console and load the game there and play as well.

Unfortunately the limitation is that the game DRM is tied to your account and not your family members that share the console. Just like when you own the disc you cant play it, take it out , insert it into a different console and expect to play on both. Since
you cant sign in on 2 Xbox One consoles at the same time you cant share play the game on one and share it on an other even though he is your family member that is tied to your account.

The summary is in order to play on 2 consoles the same game you will need to have 2 versions of the game owned by each person.

I hope that I explained it well enough but reach back if you are further confused by my ramblings.

    Question about game sharing

You can play any game on your console as long as the owners account is also logged in to the console. What you can't do is play at the same time on two consoles.

    Question about game sharing

If it is the first time you are signing into that xbox with that profile then yes it will make that xbox your home xbox.

If you want to make the other one your home xbox then you would just need to sign back into that one and go into the settings and make it your home xbox again.

Keep in mind you can only switch which console you have set as your home xbox FIVE times a year.
