Question about save data transfer

It would depend on what the games are as if to whether the saves will transfer to the One versions or not. Otherwise, you'have to start the games over on the One version.

Since you purchased the games on your account, you can redownload them and play them on any other console. Performing a license transfer on the new console, would remove the console license from the old one and your son would no longer be able to play the
games on the old console.

Hi there, what can be transferred from Xbox 360 to Xbox one, is your Xbox live profile and your save data. Go to storage on your Xbox 360 and upload every save data you need to your Xbox cloud. After that just download your Xbox one profile, All your Xbox

I also find it weird that at the start of the game you can not choose what device you'd like to save on.

I just copy both files and move my profile to a Memory Unit/Flash Drive and it seems to work fine. You'll need to select the storage device from the main menu when at your friend's place though.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We see you have a question on save data. The game needs to be a play anywhere title for the save data to transfer from Xbox to PC. If the game is not a play anywhere you will need to play it separately.
