Question about predownloading

Hey I am planning on predownloading a game that is about to release (Mad Max). However, on the day of its release, I will be somewhere with no internet access. Does my console have to be connected to the internet at the time of release for the game to unlock,
or will it unlock regardless of connection?

Game Pass Predownloading?

With sea of thieves coming to xbox game pass on launch day, will game pass owners have the ability to predownload as someone who preordered would? As in, if two weeks before it came out I subscribed to games pass, would I be able to predownload Sea of Thieves
so it would be immediately playable? We have horrid wifi, amd this would be a great feature and I haven't found an asnwer to this anywhere else.

Hi buddy,

I'm 99.99% sure that it won't "unlock" without an internet connection. In my experience it rarely activates at 0:00 on the dot, can be a couple of hours later, occasionally earlier, so I would assume there's some kind of handshake that goes on.

Also if you think about it, there would be nothing stopping people pre-downloading a game, disconnecting from the internet and changing the date on their console.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news bro.

Hopefully you can use your phone as a WiFi hotspot or something too get the game going, and hopefully there isn't some huge day one patch.
