Question about Gamertag.

Not sure if this is the right place for this question but I'll ask it anyway.

What will happen to the old Microsoft account if you would transfer your Gamertag to a new Microsoft account? Can I still use it for another offline Gamertag?

The new rule has been stated if an account has been inactive for 5 years the gamertag and account shall be removed off xbox services.There will not be a next mass gamertag release you just got to wait.

Just in case you didn't understand the wait time has started a soon as the notice was released.

If you're going to have an offline account (never go online with it), you won't need a Microsoft account at all. You will be able to use the Microsoft account on another silver account if you chose to.

Sorry but no and fro two reasons.

First, all Sales (including name Changes) are final. It is your responsibility to check prior to finalizing any Purchase.

Second, the GT you wanted is already taken "Lieutenant Josh" hence it is impossible to for you to have.

I hate to say it but another 800 MSP is the only way I know of. Wish I had better news.

Unfortunately not! The person who owns could have it "saved" for when he's ready to change his original gamertag. It sucks, I know but try and be creative and think of a different way of spelling it.

Microsoft do occasionally release gamertags but they don't take requests and they don't have a time-table of when they do it.

This is to stop people grabbing so called "OG" gamertags and then selling them on, something which happens even with the current randomness.

Also remember than the "gamertag" system is used by other Microsoft services. It is possible the tag is in use on Zune.
