    Question about downloads while in "instant on" as compared to 360


    I'm trying to figure this out once and for all-does the Xbox One continue to download content while it's suspended (in "instant on" mode)? On the 360, you could set up background downloads so you could kick off a marketplace download, power the system off,
    but the system would not actually turn off until the download was completed. Does this not exist on the Xbox One? It appears that if I start to download something from the store, I have to leave the system on until the download completes, and that if I go
    into suspend, the download won't finish. Patches and firmware updates DO seem to download while suspended, so why don't store purchases seem to? It seems to me that they should, and that even things I buy on the web should auto-download the next time the
    Xbox One phones home to check for updates.

    Am I missing something here, or am I correct in the assumption that you have to leave the Xbox one fully powered on to complete a full game download?

    Honest question:

    I'm in the process of researching build parts to piece together a gaming PC. Though I game on both a PS3/360, I've been curious about PC gaming for a while. Is PC gaming really that bad compared to console gaming?

    Same as you can sign in on xbox.com. It doesn't need to download DLC or games from 360 profile.

    The interesting question is, can you sign in on both consoles at once, So you can still be in 360 party while playing on XB1

    I would imagine so as they are two different devices (I can be signed into XBL on my phone and 360 at the same time).

    Is her Xbox currently on, as in, is she playing? 'cause it could be that while the Xbox is in use, ie playing, it won't initiate download on it's own to prevent potential lag for the user.

    As for the Xbox being "off" but in Instant On mode, it should download automatically. I don't know if there is a delay from the item being bought and to where it starts, but mine is always finished when i get home if i bought something while at work. If
    it is not working, you might need to powercycle the Xbox (Holding down the Xbox logo button on the console itself for 5 seconds until it powers down, and the power supply is glowing orange, then restart. This usually fixes a lot of things.)

    It could also be the servers responsible for the initialization request for the download that arent a 100% yet if this started or mostly happened during the holiday attacks on Xbox Live. I'm just speculating here though.

    So My console is set to instant on. As long as you power down the console first...either by controller or by pressing the white touch button on the front...its fine to kill the power from the lead etc. We have many power cuts and its never corrupted my unit.

    Yeah , I mean they tell you not to do things like that , but the electric goes off and flickers all the time so I wouldn't worry about it...
