  1. Question About Child Account

I have three kids (all girls) and the oldest is finally starting to embrace video gaming. I'm so proud!

So here is my setup. I have two Xbox One consoles. One in the living room (My home Xbox One) and the other in my office. I downloaded Minecraft for my daughter and then set her up a Xbox Live account. Her account is only active on the secondary console.

So today was one of those days where the both of us wanted to do some gaming. I'm logged on in the living room and she's heads into the office to play some Minecraft. I get signed out in the living room because the Xbox in the office needs her to sign
as me to play Minecraft. Once she launches Minecraft, she hits the "Y" button and signs into Minecraft with her Xbox Live profile.

Now if I try to log back on in the Living Room, it boots her off Minecraft and says "You have been signed out".

Why can't she logon on the second Xbox and play Minecraft without booting me off my other Xbox? What am I missing?

    Thanks!

    :)

    Question about child accounts

Thanks for the link and information. You never know when things like this happen, if its something with your account or more broad. This is obviously a broad situation affecting many of us. Its still odd that Friday was the implementation day since the family
deal was done in months ago.

I didn't get as far as them trying to charge me a fee or verify my age. So that is interesting. I stopped on the page where it wanted my permission to"(set up a microsoft account" for my child. I just didn't like what I was reading and am not sure I want
that and more importantly was wondering why something changed halfway through my subscription period. I guess its a good lesson on pre-paying for things with Microsoft. What I really would like is to be able to play out the next 5 months (till May 2014) under
the rules I signed up under. We just got the xbox360 last Christmas and then did the Live to see what it was about. Without the family option, there is little chance we were going to renew live after next May anyway. I'm not really worried about security
as far as downloading and playing. Anything they purchase I'd see on my credit card bill and anything downloaded they know they shouldn't results in the xbox no longer being available Question About Child Account :) So they never purchase anything without asking my permission.

    Thanks again.

    Question about child accounts

Family memberships were discontinued months ago. An email was sent out stating each member would switch over into their own separate Live account. The good news is that as a parent you can still mandate restrictions on what your child's account can download,
play, etc. The bad news (for most) is the charge that Microsoft is enforcing to verify EACH account. Be mindful as the verification also gives Microsoft/Xbox the permission to collect AND share information from your kids.

My issue, however, is geared more towards the fee being forced upon us. Here are my thoughts in another discussion...

the xbox SHE plays on should be YOUR home xbox , try it that way and see but just switch places before you waste one of your "home" switches (3 times a year limit)

  5. I'll give that a try and see. Her account has not even been added to my home Xbox One since she doesn't play on that one.

Just curious, why does it have to be setup that way? If she is setup as a family member, shouldn't she be able to play on any of the Xbox's as long as she logs in with her account?

The family settings don't affect game licenses. The Home setting is what affect game licenses and where other profiles are allowed to access your games.

  7. I got you. So what I should have done was create her a Xbox Live account first and then purchased Minecraft under her account?

I'm guessing there is no way for me to transfer ownership of digital downloads to her account.

    Question About Child Account

Yeah, it probably would have been better to purchase the game under her account. No. Nothing can be transferred between accounts.

    Question about child accounts

There is another thread about a system update on Thursday night. Maybe it has something to do with that. I'm struggling to think its something with the discontinuance of the family subscription since I think they changed that over a while back.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on it.
