    Question about background music feature


    At E3, Mike Ibarra announced the background music feature, which is coming in August. I understand this will allow us to play saved audio files from our PC to the Xbox, but what I'd like to know is, what about the real-time stereo mix coming from the PC?
    (i.e. any application that's running on the PC, not just files). Will it be possible to stream that to the Xbox also?

    It wasn't directed at you but a general question.

    Why does it take Windows 10 to play music in the background, why hold back a basic feature?

    In the new update it stated "Background Music: Today’s update brings the ability for the highly requested feature of Background Music, which lets you listen to your favorite music in the background while gaming on Xbox One. The Pandora app, launching soon,
    is the first of many partners who will support Background Music, with Groove Music, iHeartRadio and other apps coming later."

    Pandora is coming soon, as stated in the update release. However, there is one current App that will work with this function called CAST, it is a free music app. You can use this now until the other music apps are updated to work with the new Background
    Music feature.

    I mean, there are already some Windows 10 apps like 'Stream What You Hear', that allow you to output your real-time PC audio to DLNA, which I can then listen to in the Xbox Media Player app (snapped while playing a game). That's all fine. So, will the
    background music feature allow me to do the same thing, but without having to snap?

    the background music is already in evidence in the preview app on Xbox

    this can reach all day on August 2 that is when the update anniversary arrives at the console
