[Q,360] - Custom Dashboard theme

So i just went to a friend who has a XBOX 360 SLIM and i noticed that he has a custom dashboard theme that changes the background when going from HOME to Settings and Game library.He told me that he used a tool to make a custom theme that can be loaded via
a USB Drive.

Now my question is:

Are we even allowed to do something like this? Can we get banned due of this?

I mean,it's not like you're modding the complete Dashboard right?

Should have added the options to customize the dashboard.

I haven't seen any themes for it as of yet, but I definitely wouldn't be surprised if that added that in a future update. I agree-It is extra added revenue and there are some people I know that were always customizing their dashboard on the 360.

We can customize the dashboard with different background pictures and themes on the 360 so why don't Microsoft enable us to do that for the X1? Sure, we can change the colors of the tile but no background pictures? Or is there, and I just couldn't find it. I hope they'll add that in future updates because the it's very bland right now.

Yes, you can get banned for doing this as it requires third party software in order to do it.

You probably wont be able to use Xbox 360 themes, but I'm sure they'll gradually release free to paid for themes at some point. And you also have to look forward to future dashboard updates that may allow themes. I do wonder if you could put custom pictures
on as themes when the console releases, that'd be cool.

I'll jump in on this one. It was not there on the first OG Blades Dashboard. Themes and Custom Images where present in their entirety. It's not necessarily a "design flaw" but it's a poor Design Choice. Why cover anything with
a half of blank grey?

The "big deal" is that many Themes were rendered just about obsolete. For this reason alone MS should have noticed a drop in Users purchasing Themes. I know I haven't paid for one Theme since the NXE and there is no Customization of the Dashboard of any type
with all of the DB's since the NXE. This was an original Feature of the Xbox 360/ Xbox 360 Dashboard that was Marketed.

To have custom themes for the dashboard. It would be cool to have like a Gears of War themed dash that could really add to the aesthetics!

On the old dashboard it used to be in System>Console Settings>Themes>Customize>Guide Background and Dashboard Trim

So take a look around the Themes and Console Settings sections of the new dashboard and you might find it hidden away there.
