Purchasing Xbox One Games Overseas

Hello, I'm from Australia and I'll be going overseas soon. I was planning on purchasing some Xbox One games while I was there but I've heard that even though the Xbox One is region free, dlc and redeemable codes don't work. Is this true?

use a VPN mate thats what i have to do as im now living in Europe and microsoft wont let me transfer my GT over from Canada. Sorry dont wanna give it up since ive had it since XBL beta testing days

Unfortunately the use of a VPN is against the XBL Terms of Service and will only result in enforcement action up to a permanent account/console ban.



@OP-So far the only Game Developer to region restrict their download content is Treyarch. Infinity Ward does not. You should be fine.

 

am sure they do someone else might be able to help

 

Prepaid membership codes are region locked

however you may have issues with content like halo etc

 

Its all Free Region Free, I have US console and I am in SG been buying all digital games from US market place.

 

PunjabiSingh, I think ngocphi means if you get a code on a card for example it is region locked which I believe is correct.

The games are region free and DLC and patches etc from any region will work with those games if you buy them from the country you are in.

So games and Xbox Marketplace direct purchases = Works in the OP's scenario

Pre-pay code bought from GameStop for a download on console later = Unlikely to work
