Purchasing games digitally on xbox one

if you buy and download a game on the xbox store does it stay with your account and membership forever? Even if you wanted to play it 15 years from now? Haha just wondering if digitally download is better long term than buying disc and trading in for 10
bucks eventually. Games 10-12 yeas old will hold some fun value. What do you guys think?

Yes, that is exactly what it means. If you buy the game digitally, you can play it using the purchasing account on either Xbox One or Windows 10, whichever you prefer.

 

Purchasing Xbox 360 games digitally, on my Xbox One

I have two Xbox Live Accounts. On my main account, I can get Red Dead Redemption for around 7 pounds. However, when i go to buy it, it says something like: "This purchase can't be made from xbox.com please make this purchase from your xbox" yet I'm doing
all this from my Xbox. I switch to my other account and i am able to make the purchase, but it is more expensive as there is no deal with gold, furthermore there is no billing info on the second account.

How can I make the purchase from my Xbox One on my primary account? Or at all?

Yes. Even if you delete the game, you can download it again at any time for free.

 

what do yo guys recommend doing? buying the hard copy or using the digital download to have the game linked to your account forever?

 

All depends on personal preferences. Im all digital on Xbox One and probably wont buy any discs this gen. I am all digital because I dont get charged tax on Xbox Store purchases and I like instant switching.

 

Really depends on the game. Something like Skyrim or Fallout is perfect for going digital because I would play it over and over. Otherwise sticking with discs is better because you can just trade them in if they end up being terrible or just don't have much
replay value.

 

yeah i agree..its better to get the digital download than the disc coz when you buy the digital copy, the license of the game attach to your account..its easier to look for the game in the store/purchase history of your account and add it to the console's
download queue..you can also look for it through you..discs are being scratched and if that happens, itd be a waste

just remember your only buying a licence to use said game, they can actually remove the game or stop support or make it inoperable after 3 - 4 years, disc based games are the same, you only own a licence to use the software but with discs they will still
be available even if the software gets pulled.

 

Farscape- so your saying that if you digitally buy a game on the store it might be pulled 3-4 years from now to where you couldn't even play it digitally but obviously you can always play your hard copy game?

 

^^ As long as they are still on your hard drive, you should have access to them. There are some games for the 360 that have been pulled from the market due to licensing issues and you can't redownload them.
