Purchasing an xbox live gold membership as a gift.

Hey, I purchased a gold three month subscription for my friend while it was on sale for 10 dollars. How come it charged me with the original price and not the sale price? I am very confused and upset, because I find that unfair.
Please contact me and let me know what is going on, and why that happened.

I'm having trouble purchasing content and redeeming gift cards. I can still do the auto-renewal of my xbox live gold membership, but nothing beyond that.

Eligible purchases for the "Get the most with Xbox Live" promotion

The Microsoft Store is separate from the Xbox Live marketplace. It would not be the same as purchasing Live directly from Xbox.

Per the terms of the offer, During the Promotion Period, purchase an Xbox Live Gold Membership or an

Xbox gift card (for $15 or more) from a retail location (online purchases are

not eligible). It sounds like you have to purchase a prepaid card. Purchasing/renewing gold directly from Xbox would not qualify.

Unfortunately it is not possible to use and Xbox gift card balance to purchase an Xbox Live Gold Subscription you will need to either purchase an Xbox Live Gold membership card/voucher or register another payment method to your account such as a debit/credit
card or papal to purchase Xbox Live Gold.

So you went to purchase a gift code for Xbox Live, and in the purchase for you it gave you an error?

and are you choosing the "Give as a gift" option?

Sorry to hear it. However, gift cards and Xbox currency cannot be used to purchase Gold memberships. You can only purchase memberships using a credit card, Paypal or a pre-paid Gold membership card.

Sorry to hear it. Refillable cards such as a Visa Gift Card cannot be used to purchase Gold memberships on the Live service. This is because the memberships purchased on Live auto renew and Xbox Live needs to know that the next payment (should you choose
to leave auto renew on) would be able to come off of that card.

It is not possible to use a gift card/account balance to purchase an Xbox Live Gold membership you will ned to either link your Paypal account to Xbox, register a Debit/Credit card to your account or redeem the code from an Xbox Live Gold membership voucher.
Please note the $70.00 will still be available for you to purchase Xbox One games and DLC through your console.
