Purchasing a game on Microsoft Store on Windows or on Xbox

The Microsoft Store offer is only for purchases through the Microsoft Store, which is different from purchasing through the Windows 10 Store. Usually Microsoft Store purchases are only physical copies of the game, which may have been eligible for a $10 discount
on future purchases from the Microsoft Store, but this is separate from the digital-only Windows 10 Store.

Probably a little bit of both. The games Microsoft have as Play Anywhere have to be available through both the Xbox store and the Windows store. Since it's not available to purchase on the Windows store it's not a Play Anywhere title.

You need to log the account that purchased the game into the Microsoft Store app on your Windows. Open the Microsoft Store app and in the upper right corner log in with the account that purchased the game, then look for the game in the store and install.

Did you purchase the game on disc or a digital copy from the Microsoft store? If it was a disc, then you will have to pay for the game again, as Xbox Play Anywhere only works with digital games. If it was a digital copy from the Microsoft Store, then logging
in on Windows 10 with the same account that purchased will let you download it to your Windows 10 device.
