Purchased games turned back to trial versions

Why does downloaded games turn back to trial versions when you move the saved files from one harddrive to another?

I moved all my content on my old 360 to my new one (that I had to buy just to be able to play GTA5) and when I tried to play some of the downloaded games (far Cry: Blood Dragon and Mortal Kombat Arcade for example) they were trial versions.

I don't have a high speed internet connection anymore and my xbox is not connected to internet so I can't unlock the games again. Games that I have paid for. So tired of this DLC and online ***.

    :)

Full Arcade games turning into Trial

My Arcade games keep turning into Trial versions for example I bought Castle Crashers back when it first released on Xbox and I recently went back to play it and after updating it turned it into a Trial Version instead of the full

Now my Minecraft is doing this and a few other games are doing this to is there any way to fix this without re-purchasing it?

  3. Shotest Shogi

I purchased the Full Version of Shotest Shogi for Xbox 360 from Xbox Live Marketplace on the Xbox website. Only the Trial Version was loaded to my 360. I am unable to unlock or purchase the Full Version on the Trial Version of the game. Is there a problem
    with game?

These games are tied to your gamer tag. Means that you will need to log in through the gamer tag of the account you bought the games on in order to play the full version of these games.

  5. Hello Lobos,

Unfortunately the purchases was linked to both your gamer tag, and the original Xbox that you had bought them on. Because you are moving to a new console you will need to perform a license transfer. This can be initiated online here

    support.xbox.com/.../download-content

But this mean that you will have to connect your consoles online to update the licensing for your content. If you have the content downloaded the license update will be relatively quick, but unfortunate still require a connection to Xbox live.

    Hope that helps

The issue is that you're on a different console, so you do not have the console licences on your current machine. As such, your profile needs to be signed into Live in order to play the games. If you are offline, they remain as Trial versions.

Now, to get around that and allow you to play the games even offline, you will need to perform a licence transfer, details about which you can find at
    http://Xbox.com/DRM

After doing that, download the games again (no need to delete them first, just download from your Download History - on the console, Settings/Account/Download History) and the licences will update.

After this you will be able to play the games once more, even while offline.

This of course requires that you move the console to somewhere where you can get it connected to the Internet. However, because you do not need to download the full games again if they are on the hard drive (just the licences), the entire process should
    be fairly quick.

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.

Oh, the DRM nonsense. I get that downloaded games should be tied to the profile that purchased them, but not why they have to be tied to the console.

I have no solution for this and will be turning in both my consoles for recycling. I'm not going to give Microsoft any more of my money.

There seems to be some confusion and misunderstanding here.

You do not need to pay again for any of this, no-one is asking you to give anyone more money; nothing we suggested will cost you anything.

All you need to do is transfer the licences to the new console (a free process) and then to go into your Download History and go through the process of re-downloading the games which will update the licences, but this does not cost you anything either as
    you already own these games.

I hope this eliminates the misunderstanding that seems to have occurred.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

No confusion here. I know that I don't have to pay for these games again. I was just saying that I will not use/buy any of Microsofts Xbox Live services and games anymore. DRM, DLC and forced online took all the fun away.

It's only always-online if you don't do the licence transfer, otherwise you literally just need to connect the one time then you can go offline permanently and it will work fine.
