Purchased A Wired Xbox 360 controller for use on my computer, but I think it might me ...

I ordered this controller a while back on Amazon, it was fulfilled and recommended on the main product page, so I purchased it and didn't think much of it until I notice it shipped from China. This made me a bit wary as I waited for my controller to arrive.

It arrived packed well, but the box was dented and a bit messed up. When I unpacked it and looked at it, the power button appeared to be a bit uneven and popped out, and the lights around it were not separated, but glowed all around the button, even if coming
from one source. The engraving looked fine, and the back looked okay, despite featuring some Chinese text. There were no misspelling issues I noticed. The cord seemed rather cheap, and it did not have an inline separator. The USB connector had no text (some
pictures have a Microsoft logo here). The buttons were a tiny bit wobbly, and the controller seemed light. I do not have another controller to compare it to though, so I need to some help in telling whether or not it is fake. I'll upload some pictures soon.

USB extension cable for xbox 360

Hi there,

The USB extension cable I use to use for my first 360 Guitar Hero controller was purchased from a store that sold computer supplies - Amazon, Best Buy, TigerDirect, etc. It was a while ago so I don't recall exactly where I got it, but those are my typical
shopping locations.

I have used it on my wired 360 controller until I purchased a wireless controller.

Is that what you're looking for?

 

Two Questions

That would be a no for both questions. Unless you have a portable Xbox 360 with a screen built into the machine, you can use a laptop like screen. I have tried myself to use the USB charger on a computer for a wired cable, but that doesn't send a signal
to the computer it just charges the battery.

If you want to use a controller with your computer however, you might as well buy a wired Xbox 360 controller and they work perfectly fine.

 

I'd still like a second opinion, but after some close examination, I believe my product to be fake. The Microsoft logos on the box and on the holographic sticker appear to be missing the slice in the "o". Here are some pictures nonetheless, please let me
know what you think, as I'd like to get a refund.

It`s very difficult to tell just from photographs. Ideally you would have to compare it side by side with what can be confirmed as a genuine wired controller.

Neither of my genuine controllers have a slice in the `o` on the holographic stickers, so I wouldn`t worry too much about that.

The one thing that you do have to remember is that all genuine 360 accessories are manufactured in China. The packaging looks exactly the same as a European sold one, apart from the Chinese text on it. That could simply be that this controller was made to
be sold in China and someone has bought a bulk load and is selling them internationally.

The buttons on my new controller do have a certain amount of free play to them, or wobbly as you call it.

And as for the weight issue, wired controllers are very light when compared to a wireless controller due to not having a battery pack attached.

Finally, a couple of points that you failed to mention in your post. How much did you pay and does the controller actually work?

Oh, and as for the in-line connector/separator, I have had genuine controllers both with and without.
