Purchased 2nd Xbox One S white wireless controller, not syncing with headset, headset still...

Hi Microsoft Agent,

I'm having the same problem, we have an Xbox one S, we have now purchased 2 headsets thinking the first was faulty. Both headsets work on a friends xbox. We then purchased a new controller believing ours was faulty, but still no joy. We are using Xbox One
Wireless Controller 3.5mm white. We have borrowed a friends controller and the headsets work straight away on our box.

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I understand you are having issues with an Xbox One S controller not working with the headset. I recommend to try the following:

• Check the controller for
  updates
  
• Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions, such as audio
  and rumble, are turned off to conserve the remaining power.
  
• Try your Stereo Headset and Stereo Headset
  Adapter on another controller, if you can. If the headset works on the second controller, try
  updating the first controlleragain.
  If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
  Xbox Online Service Center.
  

Try this out and let us know the results.

Turn off and disconnect all controllers from the Xbox 360 and disconnect the wireless headsets from the controllers.

Connect the wireless headset to the Xbox 360 using the USB cable. Turn on the wireless headset.

Sync the headset to quadrant 1 by pressing the "Connect" button on the on the Xbox 360. Then press the "Connect" button on the wireless headset for two seconds. Do not continue to press the "Connect" button on the wireless headset, as this will change the
quadrant to which it is connected. If the headset now works without the controllers attached, the problem must be with one of your controllers. If the headset still does not work, then the problem is with the headset.

Bought a £250 headset (Astro A50'S Wireless) Yet STILL have to plug it in to controller to talk. Really hoping for a wireless headset for xbox one too

Weird --- This is exactly what is happening to me. But when I tried Mister G''s suggestion --- The headset would initially sync to 1, but when I turned he controller on, it would knock the headset out of sync. The only way i found to fix it was to turn
on a 2nd controller, and then use that with the headset and it worked. Any possible work arounds?
