    The SIM's game series is a social based game and you're wife may run into issues trying to play a game like that offline. It may be possible but the experience may not be very good.

    I suggest you research the game a bit first prior to purchase.

    Even thought having a gold membership does help to enhance the game play through online play and several other features, it is not necessary to have a gold membership to purchase the game through the store.

    No it's not a problem. You can buy any game you wish. You will need a gold membership to play it online and to enjoy most of the features though. So it's best to have one

    You can purchase games to play offline but to enjoy most features gold is necessary you also get free games while having a valid membership.
