Psychonauts Update Broke the Game?

Psychonauts just got a recent update on Xbox One. Ever since I installed the update I can no longer play it. They game starts just fine, but the screen turns black at the title screen just after the introductory company logos. The Psychonauts title screen
is unique, as you are controlling the main character walking around on a brain, and there are doors in the floor (brain) that lead to the standard "new game", "load game", and "options" menus. However, I can't continue because I can't see the screen, as it
turns black. I can still hear the game, and can hear the character so I know the controls still work, I just can't see, so I can't play the game. I'm on an Xbox One X model. Does anyone know what's wrong? Or is the update bugged?

Psychonauts problem

Hi,

There is a problem for psychonauts (BC Xbox Og) on Xbox One since last update.

-> Black screen after introduction and on start menu.

 

These games needs to be on xbox one!

Loved Psychonauts! Hugely underrated. Was very well done.

 

First id try resetting your console by holding the power button on the console for a full 10 seconds until it turns off completely. Turn it back on and try again.

If that doesn’t help then I’d delete the game and reinstall it. Should be a quick process with an older game.

 

The usual procedure for bc games is to delete the game and reinstall again just in case there is a new update

 

I already tried those two things, they didn't fix the problem.

 

I don't understand why we'd need to do that. They update just like any normal Xbox One game does. Anyway, it doesn't matter. I've already tried deleting and reinstalling the game and the problem still persists.

 

So, any update on the situation? I still can't play the game...

 

Any other solutions you would suggest? I still can't play the game.

 

Im having the same problem. Im soooo bummed this is happening. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Also changed the video imput to a lower rez. Nothing has worked.

Thats a solid No. I tried messi g with so many settings and still the same thing. Found the new game button while the screen was flashing. It started a new game but still screen was flashing then just went to a solid black screen and then the game crashed.
I dont understand the "update" that broke the game. Very disappointed that microsoft hasnt acknowledged this issue.

 

Since the support doesn't regularly read all posts here, it might be that they just don't know about that particular issue.

Please contact the official support via
https://support.xbox.com/contact-us and make them aware of that issue.

If you get a "Virtual agent", click on "No thanks" to be able to get in contact with a real support member.

If they have a solution for your issue, please respond here for others to know how to resolve it, or at least make them acknowledge that there is a game-breaking issue with the game.

Since this has also
mentioned in the DoubleFine Forums, you're not alone with that issue.

 

I think it's pretty clear now that the problem isn't caused by a bad install, and that it was caused by faulty code added in the new update. There are now several different questions/discussions about this issue, none of which have been resolved. Can't
you just let them know they need to fix it?
