PS5 controller problem with PC

Dear Support!

I have a special problem with my PS5 controller. I used to play games with it, the PC recognized it and worked perfectly fine. One day it does not light up, the system does not recognize, the system thinks there is no controller connected, but there is. If I connect the PS5 controller to my laptop, it works without any problem. I've read a previous question with this problem, I also tried everything but I find something out. One of my USB port is not working. I tried to connect any working external device, but the port is not working. Can one wrong port cause this issue, where anything is working well in other ports except the PS5 controller?

Thank you so much for the perfect description and for letting us know more details. May I know how many ports your machine has? After your inspection, you are sure that one of the USB ports cannot connect anything, right? If so, it may be caused by this problem. Usually, the USB port is integrated on your motherboard, so when overloaded (here refers to connecting multiple devices and working continuously) may cause the failure of the USB port. Please try to install the USB driver and try to repair, if it doesn’t work yet, may be related to your hardware.

And I found out that you are using the USB port to connect the PS5 controller, please try a Bluetooth to connection it.

So I have the same problem but on a pc with a wired controller.

With Bluetooth disconnected all the time so I started to use with wired. Didn’t disconnect as much but still plenty of times.

I tried everything u guys have mentioned but still bad.

Used the Ps5 and Nintendo switch pro controller, they worked perfectly.

So I will try to change the controller to a ps5 instead. I still like the Xbox controller more but the disconnect it’s so annoying.

My son gets crazy mad when the controller disconnects so I need to get a controller that works

I checked a MS ELite and PS5 controller here https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad and both RB worked as they should, RB does not work on any PC game with either controller.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I understand that you want to use your PS5 controller when playing your games from Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox App does not natively support PS5 controllers. However, there are third party controller emulation apps that you can use at your own risk such as DS4Windows or DualSense X to enable your PC to recognize it as an Xbox controller.
