PS4/1080p/60fps vs XB1/720p/30fps

I see this crap posted everywhere now. What is the reason for this disparity and when is it going to change? Not sure how much I care about frames-per-second, but as someone that uses a projector and sits somewhat close, 1080p is actually useful to me...Why
are all these multiplat games incapable of hitting 1080p (an HD standard for years now) on Xbox One...? The devs sure don't think it can...

Why is Turn10 the only dev that has figured it out thus far?

XBOX ONE not doing 1080p 60fps any time soon.!!

Then why isTOMB RAIDER DE 1080p 60fps for PS4 and 1080p 30fps on the XB1 ? and the the cut seens are 1080p on the PS4 and 900p on the XB1.

 

Is Xbox one even worth it?

"I'm not saying the xbone is rubbish, I'm just saying if I have the choice to play a console game at 720p@30fps or 1080p@60fps I may aswell go 1080p@60fps" hardly any games on the XB1 are both 720p and 30 FPS so to put it like that is simply plain wrong

So there are a couple of things to consider here.

PS4 is often reported by media sites as suffering graphical lag and jerky movements unlike the Xbox One version.

Microsoft assigns 10% of Xbox One system resources to the Dashboard, that gives you the ability to do the whole snap, switch, resume options the Xbox One can do that the PS4 can't. This means there are less system resources for the game developers to use.

Microsoft has mentioned that future updates will reduce that 10% requirement they currently have which will free up some resources for games to make use of. When that will happen is up to Microsoft.

PS4 uses DDR5 RAM and Xbox One uses DDR3 RAM. DDR5 is more expensive but used mainly for graphics due to its speed. DDR3 is cheaper but slightly slower for graphics and is more CPU friendly. This gives the PS4 a graphical advantage.

60fps vs 30fps is difficult to measure too. 30fps with smooth control will feel better than 60fps with input lag.

1080p vs 720p is noticeable but only if you run both next to each other.

At the end of the day, what games you want to play and how you want to play them is what matters. Some of the best games in gaming history are all about gameplay and story not how many FPS they through through your screen.

 

Its just like when the 360 and ps3 first game out.

360 was easier to program so ps3 versions of games didn't perform as well.

After devs learned more about the ps3 the graphics improved to a point that you could hardly tell the difference between 360 and ps3 versions of games.

The same will happen with the x1. As devs become more familiar things will improve and then more and more games will be in 1080p

 

They run higher on PS4 but it is subject to laggy gameplay because the PS4 is trying to keep up with the higher resolution. Devs decide to just go, typically, with 900p on XB1 to assure smoother gameplay.
