"Proud to be an American."

Amazing to think that a simple twist of fate and July fourth would be remembered as a day where traitors conspired with a foreign power in an attempt to overthrow the legitimate government.

Never has 'History is written by the winners' been truer.

 

Happy 4th of July. We have Australia Day. Usually involves BBQ and lots of alcohol.

I'm having a BBQ. I'm American (Philadelphia) but I've live in so many countries and have been away for 11 years that I see us differently. I like my friends and family from home but I look at Americans as idiots. I would never want to live there again.

People in America are so sensitive about everything that it's a disgrace. I hate political correctness and in the States you have to watch everything you say so you don't upset someone. Don't even get me started on the gun laws there.

 

I hate to agree with that but it's true...about the over-sensitivity. Just awful. One slip of the tongue 30 YEARS ago that resurfaces can cost you your entire career.

But there are good things about America and I like to try to focus on those and not get all caught up in the negativity. There are a lot of great people in America, sadly it's the doofuses that always have a spotlight on them.

 

I'm a proud Englishman! but wish you fellow gamer's across the pond a happy July 4th weekend : )

Yes, I know i'm a day late..

 

Obviously there are some things I love about it. I just don't miss it anymore. Then I see all this stuff on the news about confederate flags and I just roll my eyes. I hate calling black people African American. No they are American. I'm American and when
people ask me that's what I say. I don't tell people I'm Greek-German-American. I'm American and I'm white. Others are American and they are black. There is no difference between us. We're American so why the need to specify African? What if you refer to a
black person in the states as an African American and they are from Jamaica. That would be rude. You don't hear black people in England saying they are African English. No they are English.

Rant over.

 

I'm not sure what's worse - political news, race news, or the fact that the whole world is watching us implode. I'm living in a bubble with those that I care about and trying my best to avoid most of the news. Unpleasant times.

 

Independence Day is over and there are almost no discussions about Xbox related things.

The forums are also not the right place to talk about politics.
