    Pros/Cons of preview program


    Well...... console died today... Update this morning, now will only go to first Xbox green screen and shut down. Called support, they asked if I updated my console today. I said yes.....

    -

    They are sending me a link to undo the update. Hopefully this works. Either way, I'm out on the preview program (once I get my X1 working...)

    I got the info from support.... a no go. Console just starts and shuts down..... Advanced Exchange here I come!

    Pros/Cons of preview program

    If you want to preview stuff before it's finished and released for everyone, which will have bugs, then it's for you.

    The software/operating system is the key instrument in controlling the hardware. If it's an unfinished product, would you want it running on a device which costs several hundred dollars? Not me. Sure saves on Xbox 1 are stored on XBL, but not the game files
    and for Xbox 1, game sizes can be large just like Forza 5, COD Ghosts, etc. And downloading those file sizes off XBL at ADSL Broadband speeds can be a pain and slow. Fortunately last month we changed to Ultra Fibre Cable Internet which offers 100mb/s down
    and 10mb/s up. ADSL broadband speeds only average 7-12mb/s down and 0.9mb/s up. Why do you think Microsoft recommends you only install Windows 10 Technical Preview on a backup PC? hmm?

    @smiles....... how can it be that unfished if MS is ready to test it.... a software update should never destroy a console, if it does then it is far ready being released to the testing beta group.

    -

    Anyone who is in the preview program and have a console off warranty...... better start saving..... and to all that say "I never had any issues".... neither did I until yesterday, and when the first words out of the support member mouth was "did you update
    your console with the latest preview update"...

    The con is that things can come out buggy. You have to be willing to test things. And accept that the preview could cause issues that need fixed. I personally am fine with that stuff as I know that testing needs to be done and that is what will make the
    system better. If you are the type who can handle issues and understand that they happen you should jump in. If you are the type that gets upset with bugs that slip though testing you should not jump in.

    I have problem with preview program then I can not find the list of 360 games on my games and applications, and does not appear click menu button and view the 360 in my one and I can do?

    My final opinion on the Preview Program:

    -

    You have access to future updates, but are at the mercy of MS and the updates.... early BC may mean a console brick the next day... understand the consequences of the preview program... end/

    For me, I see no Pros in the preview program. I'm glad everyone else is doing it so they can be guinea pigs for the rest of us, but just to see a new feature that we will all get a month later is not worth the risk if something did go wrong. Just read on
    these very forums where an update for the preview program wiped out peoples hard drive.

    Get to try things out before anyone else.

    I haven't really come across anything that is really buggy that stops me enjoying the X1. Friends not in preview have the same bugs that require hard resetting.

    I'm also in the iOS smartglass Beta. Same goes for that
