Pros/Cons of preview program

Was a chat problem at the beginning of the beta programme but that was because we got the update first. I've been on it since it was introduced and no real bugs. Plus you get all the good stuff before anyone else. Learn your way around the new bits with
the quests and you'll know more about what your one can do.

 

I'm in the same boat at Goat. I've been in the program since the start and haven't had any bugs. Been all pros on my end.

 

The best pro is that you feel that you are helping to have a better Xbox one console and maybe you can test something that it will never be released but at least you tried it

 

+1 to the All Pro's, I've been in it since the beginning also and have never once had an issue with it There is the risk that something could go wrong though, but i've personally never experienced it

 

For me, I see no Pros in the preview program. I'm glad everyone else is doing it so they can be guinea pigs for the rest of us, but just to see a new feature that we will all get a month later is not worth the risk if something did go wrong. Just read on
these very forums where an update for the preview program wiped out peoples hard drive.

 

Yup guinea pigs. Even Microsoft recommends you only install Windows 10 Technical Preview on a SPARE/BACK-UP PC. You wouldn't really want Beta Software running devices which you depend on for reliability. Because it IS going to have bugs. But I guess some
just can't wait eh ^u^

 

I got ANOTHER inv to the Preview Program in my messages on my Xbox 360 console a few minutes ago. Thanks for the consideration, but I don't want my $749 console running a "not for everyone-ready-yet" operating system version software. The software and operating
system on the console is the key thing running your console. So I prefer a proper dashboard version which everyone gets than rather than being a test subject and allowing buggy software run my console. Buggy software can also have security flaws too.

 

I think some of you are forgetting that even the "finished" software can have bugs and potentially cripple individual systems. We who are in the preview are more than aware of the risk, and we are fine with that. Someone mentioned about the guy who's hdd
got wiped after a preview update, this is something that's happened to multiple people on all modern systems over the last decade, it's unfortunately just one of those things. I used to see this get raised on here alot during 360 updates.....that should of
been "finished" updates, this is a risk for everyone and not just us in the preview program.

Anyway, like I already said, I have had no problem's being in the preview and I'm also going to be in the new 360 preview.

 

Everything seems fine for me.

As for the OP, asking about the pros and cons is a weird way to look at the preview program, it's pretty simple really, do you want to help or not? You can always opt out if you don't want to participate.

 

@Serious, everything has it's goods and bads, I wanted to weigh them out before accepting the terms. I know I can opt at anytime, but why would I if I can help in some small little way to better the X1 experience.

I did that update and another one Saturday or Sunday ?? (April 18/19?)... Just re-installed MGS and Chariot after I uninstalled them a long time ago. I also just finished Wolfenstien on Saturday... no issues.

 

I don't see why there's a fear of losing your saves on the HDD. It's all saved to the cloud anyways, so even if you lose it, all it would mean is that you'd have to redownload all of it again. If you have a good connection, that should be a minor inconvenience
at most.

 

Can someone invite me into the Xbox One update preview. Want to try out the new tv tuner. Also, I like being on the bleeding edge.
