Prompted To Enter Password Every Time I Log In

Hello - I recently had to change my default e-mail address on my Hotmail/Live/Outlook account. I believe this change has now affected the settings on my Xbox Live account as I am now prompted to enter in my password every time I log in.

How do I get the system to save my password? Will I need to change my default e-mail address?

Every time I log into my xbox one it prompts me to log in however every time I enter my password it says it is incorrect so I have to go through the process of resetting my password and the next time I log in it again says that my password is wrong this
has happened 4 times this week. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

I'm not sure what happened here.

The way me and my friend did it as to not worry about passwords is to bring up your password change settings on phone or PC first. Then go to home console, enter his gamer tag and enter password. As soon as it logs his in, have friend apply his new password on phone or PC that you had setup first. Log friend account out. Log you back in. Have friend do same on his. As long as you change your password and as long as your account gets logged out of other console, your account cant be accessed without giving new password.

 

I don't know how to post a thread, but this is almost directly related to my problem. I just changed my email address, and now the sign in is requesting I enter a password for an email that no longer exists on my account. On top of that, I am POSITIVE about
knowing my list of passwords, and none of them are working. So right now I'm locked out of my Xbox account, completely clueless on how to approach this.

 

Bump. Anyone have any fixes or suggestions?

Hi there Emma,

You need to update your account settings to Remember Password when you log in. Check out the steps here:

support.xbox.com/.../password-protect-account

If that doesn't work for remembering the password, you can redownload your profile and select "Remember Password" when you login.

Sara - if you "redownload profile" does that involve removing the profile from the console and re-adding it? Can anyone confirm that removing it and re-adding it will not delete any of your save games or profiles / saves within games? Thanks.

Also, to Emma and Killa, I've had this problem for a long while and have found temporary fixes. If you go to the Xbox settings and then into the sign in and security area, then go to "change my sign in & security preferences".... go all the way to the right,
go to customize, tell it NOT to save your password, then sign out, sign back in (entering your password), then go back into that settings menu and make it save your password. This has allowed me auto sign-in for 2-4 times without asking for my password.

After a seemingly random number of sign-ins it goes back to requiring a password... and all of this because I changed my primary email address / alias. Great.

 

Basically I had to go back to my hotmail/live/outlook whatever they are calling it now account and change the Primary e-mail address to my old e-mail address. Then I took it off Magical sign in with Kinect and selected just plain old remember my password.
Now it seems to be working - so far...
