Promotional Xbox Live Gold change for VIP rewards

I was told I have a promotional Xbox Live Gold membership and that it isn't eligible for Xbox Rewards. How can I change my Gold membership to a non-promotional one?

I've been told my Xbox Live Gold membership is a promotional one and therefore doesn't qualify for Xbox Live Rewards VIP - how can I change this?

After reviewing your account, your Gold subscription for the last three months was a promotional, discounted subscription. As mentioned in the FAQ, promotional subscriptions are not eligible for Rewards:

Xbox Live Rewards can only recognize paid monthly or yearly standard, non-promotional Xbox Live Gold memberships. If you have a different type of membership, we may not be able to recognize you as an Xbox Live Rewards Gold member.

Unfortunately, you cannot change your Memberships. You will have to wait for your promotional subscription to end and load a non-promotional subscription after it is over.
