    Was given this error when trying to Redeem the Promotion Gift Card through email link and manually entering the code:

    wrong amount for year subscription promotion

    its not renewal points because the promotion was for a gift card with a key and i received a message for a gift card for 5$ and not 15$ like the promotion promised.

    $10 gift code (preorder) missing

    The $10 gift card is a promotion from microsoftstore.com. You would have needed to preorder from them in order to receive the gift card.

    why do gift card expire in 90 days

    Only promotional gift cards have an expiration date (that includes gift cards from the Microsoft Rewards program which is stated in the description). If you buy gift cards, they don't expire.

    It could be a promotional thing, and your brother very rarely signs in and when he does, he has met the requirements for the promotions and get the gift card, or its just a randomized gift and he has been very lucky.

    Also some more specific information would be helpful, such as what gift card are you referring to?
