Project xCloud (Preview) - 1 Month Later (Experience has been disappointing)

So, I signed up instantly during the Inside Xbox stream it was announced you could and joined on the very first day it was available.



Seeing yesterday that all these other games were added to the Preview was pretty exciting so I attached my ASUS ROG Phone II to my Xbox One controller and booted up the app again.

The first game I launched after doing so was Forza Horizon 4 and soon after the intros I noticed the same problems that I've been having since the beginning: audio was stuttering, too much input delay, and video clarity could do with being clearer.



One month later, I have not seen the kind of improvement to this that I expected to see. That's really disappointing. I've been submitting feedback, rating after each session, and yes, I'm playing on an ideal connection (1 Gbps/1 Gbps fiber over 5 GHz Wi-Fi, am near the router) with ideal hardware (ASUS ROG Phone II).

I'm still hoping they'll add some network statistics to the app that can be toggled so we can get a better idea of why things are performing the way they are, but barring that added ability the only insight I've been able to get as to where the data center I'm connecting to is when playing Gears 5 and going to Options > Matchmaking and it shows 1 ms to EAST US which, surely, is an East Coast xCloud data center that I am being connected to. Not ideal.



So does anyone know if there are only East Coast data centers available for Project xCloud currently? Is that why the experience has been so poor thus far?

That'd be strange, especially since Microsoft is based near Seattle, WA and I would expect them to have local data centers available for the testing of xCloud. I'm in Portland, OR and get 5 ms at best to Seattle, WA, which is pretty good and ideal for cloud gaming.

I play Shadow (cloud gaming) on my phone often at the max allowed 50 Mbps (surely far more bandwidth than xCloud is using) to a data center in Santa Clara, CA with pings of ~21 ms over 5 GHz Wi-Fi and get great results.

Any help in understanding why my Project xCloud experience has been so poor would be appreciated, thank you.
