Project Spark turns FREE...

For those interested, after the Title Update 16 on October 5, 2015, Project Spark will be a 100% Free Game. The Free2Play Model is being removed and the entire Game's Content will be available to anyone who plays without the need
of grinding for In-Game Credits or using cash for short-cut purchases.

Some Achievements are going to be reworked as well to make them more easily obtainable for Players (some are out of reach for most at this time).

Team Dakota's stated goal has shifted to simply allow anyone to Create that wants to and is ditching the restrictive Free2Play Model that left many people feeling they could not Create without endless hours of grinding for Content.

I might have to re-download after this news.

 

In addition, details are vague at this time but mod Support or Creator Content is being hinted at. Importing a png. File already exist for PS on Win8.1 or Win10. Models and Assets next, who knows?

 

I did enjoy mucking about on this but didn't really feel the urge to buy any of the additional content.

Will definitely be re downloading it & having another go now.

 

From my understanding,i think Team Dakota (and Microsoft) doesn't want to create episodic content anymore....

Project Spark can live by itself,there are enough stuffs to do,create and play.....Now,Project Spark is "owned and supported" by its own community (not a bad thing).

Also,i guess,Team Dakota might start to work on other project (maybe VR stuffs).

For me,it's a continuity and a new beginning.

 

Tzar of kaos, that is correct. The Champion Episodes and Conker Content was discontinued a while back. The working idea is a plan of allowing the Community to Create Content in the future. To what degree is now the question.

Hmm... Very interesting, I always thought this game would have been more of a success without all the paid and grinding rubbish, it's seriously why I didn't play it, I just wanted to be able to create stuff freely, a little like Minecraft. Thanks for posting!

 

This is excellent news.

I never really give this a proper go but now I have no excuses.

 

I will re-download and give it a try at some point. My biggest issue with using it before was that I had performance issues every time I tried to use it. Had the main character just fly off in the air at the top of the stairs on a certain map I created.
And oddly there was no setting for that at all. And the movement would go from normal to lightning fast and the game would have framerate issues at that point. Deleting the stuff and re-applying the objects would not fix it. A few other issues as well
and I finally just quit.

As long as this works well I could see many great things come out of this. There is potential.

 

The game has been Free since launch for me. But the last time I played it was when they had the full completed version with achievements up and running, which was gasp, October 7th last year. How do I know this? Because I did a Youtube video of it and it
has 14,720 views. I was kind of hyped and I guessed some viewers had a lol about it. I even got one comment: "It's not like anyone doubted you that it wasn't the beta.. Lol calm down". I wasn't really... hyper when I did the video. Just like Minecraft, it
takes ages to create a good world. I mean many people have short attention spans. I have lots of Minecraft worlds on Xbox 360 but only about 3 on Xbox 1. This is because only 20% of my friends have an Xbox 1 and it ain't fun doing it by yourself. But if you
do create amazing stuff, it shines.

 

I still got it downloaded and had a quick look when it came out, but I just never have the patience to make anything.
