Project Spark getting axed and giving refunds

This was one of those games I just never got around to checking out so a bit of a shame that it's not being supported anymore.

While it does feel ominous that these first party studios and games are getting closed, I like to think they could be opening up doors for other projects in the future. That could be overly optimistic, but I like to think there's a bigger picture we're not
privy to.

 

When Turn 10 or 343i gets shut down and support for their games. Let me know, because I would worry then. Right now I'm leaving the thread as its moving into Chicken Little territory. They tried something and it didn't get the support or community they thought
it would generate or the $$.

 

CodeCat5, I'm not sure of the specific processes that were required from the Administrator back-end of the Servers but Servers were shut down a few times for maintenance over the course of Project Spark in service.

I am aware that both the Report System (In-Game) and Feed (sorting of Uploaded Content) were both done by human control and not automated systems. If this was the extent, I can't answer that.

brandiesel1, it's not as far fetched as being if its MS has no control. They most certainly do even under 3rd Party Service or Connections. They still have to route through MS Servers and all it seems it would take if the profit does not justify the demand,
shut it down.

There is already documented cases for MS Policies preventing Updates not being issued in a timely manner for a Game from 3rd Party due to Certifications not meeting MS standards. Cyberstep is a Developer that was delayed over six months for their Certification.
That alone could be ample cause for Cyberstep to shut down connection to their Servers as a direct response to MS Policies.

Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice to let Microsoft know that we as a Community and Players will not allow Project Spark Servers to be simply shut down.

There is not much people playing it..

 

Dakrkplayer2, citation needed. In addition vague and ambiguous terms such as "much" require to be quantified. How many is "much"?

Also food for thought, while I have not yet tried this myself so I cannot confirm or deny others have reported since it was removed from the Marketplace and have had a Copy Downloaded prior they no longer have Access to Download it again.

Begin to question Microsoft in regards to your License to play a Game because it might just end with any Game Digital or from Disc given this Generation. Yes, Disc included as the Console itself could simply not allow a Disc to start if the License if removed.

 

LK - It's hard to say for sure of course, but the server maintenance was likely due to upgrades and such. If there are no future upgrades though, that shouldn't be necessary. Reports and such might require human intervention, but you don't exactly need a
developer or someone highly skilled/educated for that part. That's not really a critical element either, and there are plenty of MP games that are currently unmonitored.

 

I wonder why you are still able to play Shadowrun which is still active and that studio closed down in 2007.

 

I never thought the day would come, but I've officially jumped ship. What few friends I had left on Xbox wound up getting caught up in Destiny clans (or just didn't have time to game much anymore). The others are on PS4. Having used both consoles side
by side for the last 18 months, it's clear to me that Sony just has a better machine. Not trying to start some fanboy war, but as others have said, the PS4 just does so many things better. My Gold membership expires in about a week, and I'm not planning
to renew it. It's basically going to become a multi-media and streaming machine. As someone else already said, I think MS is going to need a new machine if they plan to regain the crown. I certainly don't dislike the company or service, but right now I
have no incentive to stay with the One.

 

It certainly doesn't look good, have they even mentioned what happened to the other 5 studios that disappeared from their first party list when lionhead and press play were closed?

 

I'd certainly never get rid of the X1 but it honestly doesn't get much use anymore, admittedly, I'm having alot more fun with my pc. At the moment it's Forza that's keeping me playing the X1, But if the full version went to pc instead of Forza Apex, I'm
not sure I'd have much use for the console anymore, probably just the occasional blu-ray.

But yeah, giving up the first party games to pc, and closing down studio's like Lionhead.... It's not good for the X1 or future ms consoles.

 

One of my YouTube videos has over 25k views. I wasn't expecting this XD.

I just got a comment today by someone who posted a comment on my video saying why it's not on Xbox marketplace. Last time I played this game was last year. I rarely played it. And the loading screens took longer than players would want to wait. No, it's
not our internet. The game looks pretty tho. If Minecraft wasn't around, maybe this game would get more hype.
