Project Scorpio

So who is excited about this new gaming console built for the gamer.

Is any one little angry that the new console is out so soon that the generations are getting shorter and shorter. I fell its a little like apple all this lets bring out a product but then replace it with a slightly better one put an s after the name then
a much better one just a few months after each other.

I am personally looking forward to getting one(when that will be who know) but am i going to get priced out and what is going to be the life span of the next generation?

First time I seen a comment of this nature about the new consoles but as we all know Microsoft and Sony failed to provide a powerful console and instead created a video streaming console, maybe it wasn't the right thing for Microsoft so know Phil spencer
is running the show again gamers are getting what they want I think project Scorpio is an amazing idea and Sony think so too with the ps neo. But as for genararions getting shorter this will not be a next gen console but should have the capability to support
current and future gens so in my view this gaming gen just got longer and that' means loads of development for Xbox and gaming companies which is the best thing I ever seen when it comes to gaming. (Development that is).

 

Too bad they will rule out xbox one. Developers will look for the market of pc and scorpio. They can choose yup do scorpio exclusives. They aren't going to look at the one, just as a "last years model"

The way Microsoft has played the console development and promise of a great console, just to let us down, astonished me. It is dirty

I heard that Microsoft and Sony are making project Scorpio, is there truth to that?

 

after sony pulling out of any idea of cross play with xbox it seems not as there are no further announcements on these matters.

 

I am really looking forward to all the chat and speculation on this console over the next few months. It has become obvious that Sony are rattled by Microsoft's reveal at E3 as the Neo is supposed to be available sometime towards the end of this year but
no announcement as yet.

With regards to being annoyed about a new console so close to the launch of this generation, I feel that it was inevitable due to the poor sales of Xbox one throughout all markets. I don't really feel annoyed by the release of scorpio next year but it does
feel like I'm constantly spending a great deal on products that have a short shelf life. BUT, this is to be expected if I'm honest in the tech market. Look at mobile phones, you take out a 2 year contract on the latest mobile and a newer, better, faster,
sleeker model is launched 12 months later while you have to wait a further 12 months to upgrade or face a hefty charge by your mobile network provider. It is annoying a little but unfortunately it is becoming the norm with tech products.

So summing up... PROJECT SCORPIO = lol!

 

I'm sad Sony won't cooperate with Microsoft, because I have lots of friends that have PlayStation so I was looking forward to it.

 

I (as a current ps4 player) am very excited about the Scorpio and for sure will be getting one to replace my ps4 system. The reason for that is:

1. Most powerful console that will finally utilize my 65" 4K display

2. Xbox has better controller and I hope it will be at least so good as the one for Xbox One S

3. Xbox Live Gold is giving much better games than PS Plus. To be honest I actually stopped to subscribe Plus due to horrible indy games Sony is offering.

So as you can see the main reason I picked PS4 is its power + some exclusive games.

I think Microsoft is missing a game like Uncharted and they should simply buy Tomb Raider brand and new Tomb Raiders should be exclusive to MS if they want to win with Sony. Also I do not see a racing game with graphics like in Driveclub where the cars,
lightning, rain and thunders looks so awesome.

I am also a PC player and I think 6 Tflops is not enough to deliver great content in native 4K.

I hope that during the time they will think about it and deliver much powerful console, I do not care if it will cost 100 or 200$ more, I just would like to see 4K 60fps games as a standard. I know the Scorpio is coming next year, but if you will take a
look at current TOP nVidia graphics you will see that even GTX 1080 is having problems with 4K games and 60fps, of course consoles are much better optimized but there are things that you will not be able to do (see XOne) and some compromise will need to be
applied, like weaker shadows, AA, models or draw distance.

I do not want a compromise any longer.

Currently Scorpio seems to be weaker than GTX 1070 (about 6,5 Tflops) and this sadly indicates that we will rather get native 4K but in 30fps / medium quality only. More powerful hardware could also last longer, and remember that todays 6 Tflops will be
much less impressive next year when new generation of graphic cards arrive.

Also, the current Jaguar cpu is very weak, sometimes causing a problems, it is limiting the physics and AI for sure, see the Assasin's Creed games and scenes where lot of people needs to be rendered. CPU is definitely a bottleneck in such a case.

16GB of HBM2 memory would also be nice. 4GB for System and services / VR + 12GB for games.

I wonder what game will be launched with Scorpio to promote it and show its power?

I would like to see Ryse2 or exclusive Crysis 4 to be honest, I am sure Crytek can deliver, they only need to shake hands with Microsoft again.

One more thing. It is good to know 1 year earlier that new generation / iteration of hardware is coming, even if it will be expensive we all have time to save some money before it launches so it is better I think and I would like to see this approach to
be used in the future. Sorry for typos. Regards for Polish community

I recently picked up the Xbox one and can say am more than infuriated that my next generation console is now dated hardware.

The Scorpio is Microsofts bold underline to their next generation failure.

It's announcement resulted in 4 friends leaving MS for Playstation which was the reason I got a Xbox one.

thanks Microsoft, I really enjoy wasting my money.

 

I think that moving forward Project Scorpio was a brave move by Phil Spencer announcing this at E3!

When announced they stated that no gamer would be left behind, with any gamer owning a current Xbox One

not being short changed.

Xbox would not shoot themselves in the foot regarding releasing information on a brand new console and not forgetting its existing franchise and thousand of current subscribers to its Xbox live network.

Adapting the software on its current console and using the Play Anywhere software Xbox will be on to a winner as they where first to allow you to stream to your PC from your Xbox.

However, PlayStation have announced that they are attempting to catch up Microsoft with an app to be utilised on current PC 'S & Macs

Scorpio is the future and will eventually take some existing gamers from both PC and PSN with some XBOX ONE owners upgrading straight away... Microsoft & Phil Spencer have to be careful Steam is becoming very popular and MICROSOFT store needs
to be stripped down and started again!

Currently the games sold on its service for no overheads and no physical disc and no ground rents to pay like Game stop in the USA and Game in the UK are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE... I saw that Microsoft had an exclusive sale from some of its third
party and original soft ware titles but your not going to move forward by charging way too much for a game that you can get from a store, another console /PC or service a lot cheaper whether by buying and in some instances trading in a game.

Also Indie titles on the store really need to be promoted more... unless it has been mentioned on Larry Hyrb's (Major Nelson) Podcast or is a game that has already been around on other formats you hardly see the games that are independently published
on the Xbox / Microsoft store.

I'm a little bit scared now that I've seen the failure of ps4 pro.

Please give us some REAL hardware in scorpio. CHANGE your plans and upgrade this thing before it's too late.

Offer us the chance to get a great 4k gaming PC within a console. Please.

I don't want to buy this just to see the games looking twice as good on PC.

I don't care if the console is $1,000 Canadian...make it good enough so it can take place of a high end gaming pc.

Consoles are much nicer for gaming.

Please find a way so we aren't upset to see pc running the games looking twice as good,running twice as smooth...

make it worth it. I was going to build a new gaming pc. I'd rather have a console though.
