Project Scorpio Will Have An Internal Power Supply & 4k DVR Capture!

Windows Central 3/9 and 3/13/17 Scorpio - Internal power supplies and bluray for all.

There is no mention of the CPU or GPU specs people are eager to see firmed up. These are all smaller/quality of life specifications.

Windows Central ran a couple of articles lately somewhat confirming through an "inside source" some of the nitty-gritty, but not terribly exciting Scorpio specifications.

Of note but not terribly surprising:

- Has a 4K bluray player. I think most of us were expecting that
- Has an internal power supply. I was hoping but didn't expect.
- Supersampling will provide benefits for 1080p displays such as smoother edges and shadows.
- Will use HDMI 2.0a

Bit more interesting.

- Project Scorpio's game DVR will allow for 4K 60fps recording.

Actually somewhat interesting.

- Scorpio will launch with SM6 which is a shader API designed to increase efficiency for developers in terms of time and system resource usage. SM6 will also be making its way to the Xbox One S and standard Xbox One. No word on how that will actually materialize.

It's obviously not the information a lot of people are waiting for but I'm happy to see the 4K bluray player and internal power brick somewhat confirmed.

 

Xbox ONE vs S Noise

The S has more upgrades like a faster CPU,HDR,internal power supply and vastly superior controller. Also is doesn't look like a DVR.

 

That 4K capture is going to be a huge selling point for the content creators out there.

It also means tack more money on to the price point.

More leaks to come as we get closer to E3 I'm sure.
