  1. Project Scorpio vs. Nintendo Switch

So I recently came across an article on Forbes.com saying that Microsoft should be worried about Nintendo Switch. I thought that was the funniest thing I've read in a week. First of all, there is no war between the two consoles. Nintendo's consoles have
never been running along side by side with Xbox and PlayStation. Nintendo has always delivered when it comes to uniqueness nonetheless but has never been about power and graphics and I think that is because their exclusive titles lack detail. It doesn't take
a high powered graphics card and a powerful processor to display a Super Mario game. Ok, back to the Nintendo Switch. It is a screen that you transfer from handheld to a docking system to play on your TV. The handheld version looks like absolute garbage. It's
bulky and the buttons and sticks are spread apart so you would need The Hulk's hands for it to rest comfortably. The article explains "The industry should take note, for many reasons -- there are more ways to sell hardware than with powerful chips." I agree
to disagree. What sells me as a gamer is the power of the console and the stunning graphics of a game. Of course the play-ability of the game too, a game with a terrible story and amazing graphics won't suffice. Xbox and PlayStation both have delivered amazing
consoles, each with their own features that gamers enjoy. Also in the article, Nintendo's big argument is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The graphics in that game are cringing to me. Twilight Princess had it right. The game's graphics are too cartoony
and the resolution of the colors are screaming at you. I believe Breath of the Wild could have been, without a doubt, the best selling game of 2017 if it had the right display of graphics. Now let’s come back to the point of this discussion. Graphics and power
is what lays the foundation for consoles. User interface and features come next. To sit there and argue that the Nintendo Switch is a better console than Project Scorpio is completely stupid. We gamers look to graphics and power for the details of our games.
It is unfortunate that, as of right now, there are only a select few games coming out in 4k resolution but Microsoft needs to start somewhere, right? Project Scorpio will play all of the Xbox One games but will not be displayed in 4k.

Please feel free to comment or correct me.

    :)

IMO I believe that first party games are what sells consoles. Although I do feel Nintendo has clearly fallen behind in power, which tends to hurt their third party support. I'm an Xbox fan because I think they have the best system for online gameplay, and
enjoy many of their features. I can't deny it....I will be buying the Scorpio, but I honestly believe it's more about the games for most

In recent years, it's only Microsoft and Sony who are the world's top 2 video gaming >console< platform companies.

    Why Microsoft?

    - They are the world's biggest software company. So they can create richer UI's than Sony can. Sony doesn't even let you change your gamertag, their engineers/Sony can't or won't do it. Microsoft, you can change your gamertag name as many times as you want,
for a small fee. YouTube lets you change your channel name to. People can be creative, especially the younger you are.

    - They are the ONLY 7th gen video gaming console (out of Sony's PS3, and Nintendo's 7th gen console), which has PARTY CHAT (play different/same games/apps and still be in a party chat with people. Also how Microsoft implemented this on Xbox 360 with avatars
and the UI design, is epic.

    - Microsoft own MINECRAFT (they acquired it for 2 billion dollars, so they can dish updates/DLC exclusive and not exclusive to Xbox, and earlier to Xbox users too). They acquired Skype. On Xbox 360, there's picture messaging and voice messaging.

    - Microsoft operate 300,000+ servers worldwide, for Xbox 1. How many servers does Sony own and operate, for PS4?

    - Great support for 3rd party games.

    - Xbox Play Anywhere

    - Microsoft acknowledge legal rights of New Zealand and Australian members (consumer, privacy legality), in their terms of service. If you acquired the contract outside the US, the laws of your country apply. Sony does not acknowledge the legal rights of
New Zealand and Australian members in their terms of service, where it states any conflict to be resolved through the English Courts aka UK.

    - Kinect.

    - Because Xbox Scorpio will have a higher bandwidth (320Gb/s) and better hardware, than PS4 Pro.

    - Nintendo's Wii U or 8th gen console, has a weaker GPU than even the original Xbox One.

To me it does not matter if Xbox does not sell as many consoles as the opposition as long as it's successful in it's own rights.

"Project Scorpio will play all of the Xbox One games but will not be displayed in 4k."

Only 24 hours to go before Eurogamer gets the scoop on what Scorpio will or will not be able to do, but at a very fundamental level, Scorpio *will* play EVERY Xbox One game in 4K - albeit through upscaling. Which means, unless you own a 4K television (or
even Xbox One S, which can also upscale games to 4K), there's nothing to be concerned about. You've made a whole topic attempting to place the Switch in some form of competition with Scorpio, but as you yourself have pointed out: Nintendo isn't about competing
on a level (or technical) playing field, they're about innovating.

Long before Xbox was a glint in Microsoft's eye, I was there for the whole Nintendo vs Sega console throwdown, and history has proven that Sega came out of it with a bruised ego and hardware division in tatters. Nintendo can certainly compete, but it's up
to gamers to decide what matters most - console exclusives, gimmicky gadgets, or dazzling specs. To this end, EVERY console manufacturer has dabbled in a bit of each, so ultimately it's that "brand allegiance" which holds sway over consumers. I read (or purchase)
a lot of gaming literature and love to see what's trending, but nowhere on my games radar have I ever encountered the likes of Forbes.com. It's a business site; it's for suits; it's for comparing rich lists or something. Why concern yourself with *who* is
making money unless you're a stockbroker yourself?

My advice: stick to gaming and playing the games that YOU enjoy the most. Commerce will take care of itself.

Looks like quite a few people would disagree with you considering that the Switch has had near record breaking sales figures. You've obviously never touched one either if you think it takes "hulk hands" in order to hold it. Maybe Zelda isn't for you, but
it's by far the best game I've played in a while.
