Hello everyone

I am really glad that people who love Racing Sims now have a game to play

Personally, I prefer the handling of Need For Speed: Carbon (Xbox 360).

It's not the game that's broken it's the player base.

I'm not having a go at you Randver but that is very a short sighted opinion.

Some of us have been playing driving games since the beginning of home computers.

The game needs patching and while people are making do at the moment they are not playing the same game as you.

Their controllers are simply not working properly. Just because yours is doesn't mean others aren't being affected.

I'm tired of hearing people say practice more, adjust the settings, you must suck.

Just how bad do some people think others are at a finger and thumb racing game? Its hilarious.

People are not playing because they are waiting for the patch.

My game works now. I can use the full radius of the analogue stick now. The steering setups are tweaks for personal taste. Not the difference between the game being broken or not.

 

@Shigurui, as i said not played one in ages, the last one i played didn't even accelerate/brake with the triggers, it used buttons (dunno what there like now), hard to get a decent level of control when your throttle/brakes are only ever fully on or not
on at all... that sounds like some Mario Kart level of control to me, not something Forza would waste time trying to be

 

Angel, have you considered that after you struggled with the controls... read on the interweb that there was a possible fault... un-installed the game and re-installed the game tnat you're 2nd install is messed up and that's why this racing SIM isn't a challenge
anymore?

Or maybe yours is the only one that's working right?

People aren't dumb.

People don't suck.

People ARE impatient because we're used to getting our way immediately.

And when people don't get their way immediately that's when they lose patience and pack it in.

Most people think playing COD think they can shoot liike a solidier.

Most people racing on Forza think they can drive like an F1 driver.

It's a SIM so if it's handling like "Forza Horizon" there's something wrong.

I suppose we won't really be clear until the patch is applied.

I've got both the PC and PS4 version. The multiplayer community is horrible in both. You're finding clean races on the One? People aren't even making an attempt to race clean on the platforms I own, it's demolition derby.

I've been PC sim racing since Indy (1989) and have run series in probably every sim since then so I have some experience too. The sim racing community is probably one of the most helpful, courteous in all of gaming and I'm not seeing that in Project Cars
at the moment. I'm seeing CoD on wheels.

As far as the controller goes I'm not having issues with the PS4 or the 360 controller on the PC ( support for Fanatec wheels isn't working atm) but I can't speak to how well the One controller is working.

Sim racers live or die on the multiplayer. Are you guys seeing something different on the One than what I'm seeing elsewhere? The console crowd is very transient and if you're not seeing clean racing and league/series organization at this point the player
base won't be there in a couple months, they'll be playing The Witcher, PayDay, Batman, ESO, etc.

Az I have friends who ive raced with online over 15 laps on Hockenheim GP track and at Spa and their handling is the same as mine. We were in different GT3 cars. We qualified 1 2 and 4 and I won by about 6 seconds at Hockenheim. Its where the game shines.

Nobody went off. We are fairly casual racers.

Before I reinstalled we raced the same race. I qualified in 15th place and finished 10th. I couldn't get past 7th after several laps with no mistakes. It was a struggle. Same friends finished 1 and 2 and had unbelievable lap times. Its when I knew it wasn't
working.

Ive had online races with randoms with the same handling as me, and some who are all over the place.

Im sorry to say that the game you are trying to master wont exist after the patch.

Watch some footage of others playing.

Why would they make a game with terrible handling? and who would play it?

I hate to be a smartass on this, but I know im right.

I know its a sim but its such a subjective word. I don't know what it means if I use it and I don't know what other people mean.

Maybe the developers are referring to the weather, day night, customisable handling and race setups, or the everything unlocked aspect. I don't know.

Its a good marketing word for sure.

Rand its a very different game for some on the one. A lot of people think that its project cars and are making do. Some are aware of issues, others aren't. Some have probably sold it.

I got lucky with a reinstall, otherwise I would probably still be playing what I was starting to think was a bad game.

You're are absolutely correct there appears to be an issue specific to the One in regards to controllers.

As I was browsing the official One forums looking to see if the multiplayer community is any different (organizing leagues/series, etc) I found this.....

For those who can't or won't click the link.....patch is done and being tested by Namco then off to MS for testing. Patch notes below......

FIXED ISSUES FOR PATCH

- Issue where cars would garage into closed garages in Zolder

- Console TT is now set to 11am to match PC

- Re-enabled saving of Community ghosts

- Added ABS brake rumble to XB1 triggers

- Changed XB1 pad rumble to only update during the per frame tick and not at 600hz

- Use absolute acceleration values for blending and updating steering movement to prevent negative direction

- XB1 trigger rumble scaled along with FFB rumble. XB1 analogue stick range corrected to use full extent

- The driver can no longer be switched in MP races and time trials

- Fix for NULL pointer protection when accessing ProximityDetector GUI

 

Az just to add I never said the game wasn't a challenge anymore, or played like forza horizon.

Its just that most of the car handling differences are subtle, and can usually be overcome after a few laps. Obviously things change in rain and faster cars and especially assists, but it really does play like other racing games. Smooth, consistent enjoyable
driving.

It probably came across like I was finding it all easy, its just that like you, I had been playing a version that didn't work properly. You will understand when you play the patched game.

Trying to master?

I'm winning my races because I'm driving well.

They haven't made a game with terrible handling.

They've made a game with more realistic handling than more arcady racers.

Where tire temperature, fuel load, braking and acceleration and dirt on the track have more of an impact on handling.

Maybe you really did knack your game with the wipe and re-install.

I reckon the patch is gonna leave a lot of people red faced when it doesn't make that mind-blowing difference that everyone who struggled a bit at first was convinced it should have.

 

@az I agree the patch won't change a lot of people's minds but also just because they patch it doesn't mean the game will be problem free
