    @Rippen

Also Im glad the "PC community" Doesnt decide what games get made for Consoles -Rippen

Under most circumstances I would agree with that statement but the PC sim community has a lot of vested interest in this game. We paid to support the development and many spent nearly two years beta testing the builds.

The comments in your first paragraph is the mentality that consoles gamers need to have to make this a true sim and the concern was/is that the community isn't large enough on the console to justify what they were taking away from the PC community (specifically
    modding) by going multiplatform.

If they give the console what GG wants and what sim racers expect then it'll do one of two things.....split the player base (takes longer to find races) or different mentalities have to race together ( like you mentioned with Forza) and degrades the experience.

  2. I agree with both sides of the discussion, but I do think it'll be the community that'll make or break this game. There are a lot of people thinking that this will be the same as Forza just pick up and play, I'm thinking different as this game looks a completely
    different animal.

I do agree with GG in some ways, but after putting close to 380hrs into Forza 5, practice does make you better as even using the rivals mode (something I hope Project Cars will have something similar) improved my racing and also racing on the weekly meets
with people from this very forum.

That being said that doesnt entitle any group to decide.which im glad of still.

My mindset is the reason ive enjoyed horizon 2 Online more as everyone is on silly mode and the scoring helps balance out even if you dont finish top all the time fun.

But i have always wished that track racers followed the same rules that real races have.Yellow flags, penalties fuel stops etc.

Part of racing is learning a track, finding the right racing line, finding the right braking points etc.

Yes,you will make mistakes but that's part of the challenge.

Racing lines & rewinds take that challenge away.

If you like that sort of thing then fine but go play Forza or The Crew.

This is a racing sim,not an arcade racer.

As someone who raced in real life for over 20 years I can tell you there are no lines or rewinds & this is what Project Cars is trying to replicate.

  6. What surprises me is that you guys seem to think that having those features makes it less of a sim - it doesn't. If those features were always there (as in, you couldn't turn them off), then sure, maybe, but they're not. You can turn them off! Forza is every
bit a sim as this game; it just so happens that without those features, this game caters to the more hardcore crowd - and that's ALL it means.

And for the record, if it wasn't for those racing and braking lines, I NEVER would've learned how to take corners properly. Because of them, I can now do it without the lines as long as I know the track, but I wouldn't be where I am today without them.

@GG.....This may be a silly question but how did you learn to drive in real life? There are no braking or race lines on any road I have ever been on, yet the ones I am familiar with I can almost drive them with my eyes closed. The same applies to race games,
or any game for that matter. Until you are familiar with it, of course you're going to be more cautious and little by little you get better and can start pushing the limits. It's called practice.

Why should they? Not being good at a game shouldn't be the reason they're told to go do something else - if that were the case, nobody would play anything! If they want to play the game, or any game for that matter, who's to stop them? Certainly not you,
or me. Nobody should have that kind of power, unless they are official enforcement representing the game or the service the game is on.

    [/quote]

    Why should they?

    Because they can.

Nobody is being robbed of choice.

You wouldn't buy FIFA and complain all you did was play football.

You wouldn't buy Ryse and complain all you did was kill people are a Roman Centurian (unless you were a professional game reviewer).

So why would you buy a realistic racing SIM and then complain that you got black flagged and removed from online because you thought it was funny to drive in the opposite direction of the track hoping to have a head on collision with the race leader?

I for one am going to personally enjoy watching the weeds choke.

Of course having lines & rewinds make it less of a sim.

The clue is in the word "sim".

It's meant to simulate what it's like to be a racing driver & racing real race spec cars around real race tracks.

You don't get racing lines & rewinds in real life when racing.

    Forza is not a sim.

I have raced some of the cars in Forza & it's more of an arcade racer.

Mgzin66 nailed it. A good racing sim doesn't give you crutches, you learn to drive just like a real world driver does.....that's why it's called a simulation.

Project Cars has a single player so I'm all for the allowance of racing lines, traction, ABS, etc in single player.....it has no impact on me if people are using it. Multiplayer is a different story.

Racing sims aren't about single player careers, campaigns, etc it's about racing real people in the most realistic way possible. Once you've experienced that it's very difficult to go back to games like Forza's multiplayer.

When you've done hundreds of practice laps with all assist off in order to qualify for an online race it shows you belong there. It makes for a better community and better racing.

I've run iRacing races (PC sim) where I've been limping a damaged car around the track for series points and when the leaders are coming around to lap me I've had sweat beading up on my forehead. You're trying to keep your speed up to not get flagged but
at the same time hoping you won't get in the leaders way and be responsible for ruining the race. Video games don't do that......sims do.

One thing that does have me worried is the length of time it is going to take to do a race i remember on f1 by the time you had done practice, qualifying and the actual race a few hours had gone by.

Maybe the day real professionnal drivers/cars/championships won't use assist (ABS,traction,...) i will do the same. Project Cars Track List. :)

I guess using them (like in real life),seems to be closer to a "simulation" and "reality".

    @Tzar

What real life racing series uses ABS or traction control?

To the best of my knowledge F1 was the only series that did and ABS was banned in the 90's and traction control in 2007 or 2008.

  15. I'm going to agree to disagree on this whole topic.

@mgzin66, I learned to drive by driving slowly, not like a bat outta hell. Project Cars Track List. ;)
