Project CARS release date

Have you looked at the thrustmaster 458 spider I've got this its good but no force feedback I paid £89

 

I was looking at the Fanatec setup the saw the price so I'll go with the Mad Catz one, there aren't to many wheels available for the Xbox one as I really wanted one the the clutch and gear stick for that extra bit of fun and immersion for the game

I own a Fanatec and unfortunately I have to buy a new rim to use it on the One. They have a new lower priced wheel specifically for the One in the works according to their website which if you can wait would be a much better option than a Mad Catz.

The Thrustmaster TX had some issues at launch that have been fixed with firmware updates so even that is a better option. The Thrustmaster also has a clutch pedal setup you can get to replace the one that comes with it and a shifter.

I keep hoping MS will reevaluate their wheel support. None of my wheels are supported by the One yet work with every other platform.

I read that review and watch both the videos on Youtube, think I'm now slightly swinging towards the Thrustmaster TX now did try to find the pedals with the clutch on it but looks like we can't get them here in the UK or I'm just not looking hard enough.

Was talking to my other half about the Fanatec racing setup and she said she'd even put money towards it when I decide to start saving for one in the future.

Lmao, if I honestly had the room and upgraded my PC I would so have something like that.

 

Wow everything seems expensive, i do not want to pay more for the wheel than i did for the console!!

 

I think it's about weighting up how much use you'll get from it, this will be the frist wheel I've every bought. But my time playing both Forza 5 and FH2 seems only right I take the next step for Project Cars and other racing games may even have to get the
rally games that are coming out.

If you plan using it for every racing game and it lasts 9 years or more it'll be a worth while investment

 

I've been sim racing since Indy 500 on the PC (1989) and have spent more money on the hobby than I care to think about but haven't regretted any of it.

That being said.....I would be hard pressed to recommend someone buying a high end wheel/pedal setup if their only intention is to race on the console. This isn't a knock at the console itself but rather the community. The community doesn't support racing
with the leagues. modding and the organization that the PC does. It's extremely difficult to find like minded, competitive people on the console while avoiding the knuckleheads that will wreck the entire field in turn 1.

The console community is also very transient and moves on to the next big thing very quickly while the PC still has very active communities in sims made in the late 90's. Finding people to race with on the console 5 months after a games release becomes difficult.

The purchase of a high end wheel is normally a stepping stone to the "real" sims and that's how you justify the purchase and expense. Once you have the wheel it opens the door to lots of options that don't require expensive PC's so don't let that scare you
away.
