Profile Issues on Xbox One playing Xbox 360 Games

Hi,

I have a problem and am hoping someone can help.

I have an Xbox One, and a number of Xbox 360 games I used to be able to play on it but can't any more. I'll just talk about one for now, but the same issue is with multiple Xbox 360 games.

When I try to play Halo 3 (360) it tells me it can't find my profile and needs to download it. But when it tries, it fails and tells me to check connectivity.

I know the One console has connectivity as I can play any Xbox One game on it over Live without problems ... I can see it from the router, etc. so am happy the console has local network connectivity and internet access. It just won't download the 360 profile.

I've spoken to Xbox Support three times about it now, and each time, we go through the same basic steps:

Delete the One profile and re-add it ... won't download the 360 profile.

Remove all settings short of a factory reset, re-add the One profile ... won't download the 360 profile.

I've even gone further and done a full factory reset, wiping everything, re-added the One profile ... ... won't download the 360 profile.

When these steps fail, Xbox Support tell me they've escalated it to an internal team to investigate, and I hear nothing else. The cases just get closed with no information provided.

The fact I've factory reset the console makes me think the issue isn't with the console ... but somewhere else in the Xbox ecosystem, but I can't influence that.

These 360 games used to work fine, but won't any more. Because it won't download the profile, it won't save any progress ... so short of playing the entire game in one sitting, I'm stuck playing from the beginning each time, and it's quite maddening.

If anyone has any ideas of how I can resolve this, I'll be eternally grateful.

Hi there. I have the same issue and i cant download my profile on Xbox 360 because i cant access Xbox live. Issue also presents itself on the Xbox One and Series when playing Xbox 360 games.

Hello Rnh,

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. With this game it does work on an Xbox one. Personally have played this game for hours. Would like you to try and update your profile through the Xbox 360 emulator not on the Xbox one settings.

To do this follow these steps:

Launch a 360 game on Xbox one.
Hit the menu and back button together to pull up the 360 emulator.
go to download profile even if your profile shows.
enter the credentials for your account.

This updates the 360 profile, personally had the same issue as you couldn't launch any BC game. Soon as I did this I was able to play. Try this and let us know.

This is the Xbox 360. Not Xbox One/Series. There's no issues with the Xbox One/Series version. But there is with the Xbox 360 console.

As you can see in the picture. The Xbox 360 Store is missing all DLC to the game and As you can see the DRM is also missing. As it won't let other profiles play the game.

I have done the DRM transfer and redownloaded, this is the only game I am having issues with

if you had setup app passwords you have to enter that not your password.

Unfortunately, it's not related to sign in or any user controlled setting. Sign in is always successful regardless of 2-step being enabled or password length. It's the download of the profile that fails after successful sign-in.

I created another account with 2-step enabled was able to complete the profile download successfully using an app password so the issue appears to be account specific. Also tested this on three different Xbox systems on three different networks with the
same result.

My guess is that it's an anomaly related to SSO authentication across platforms in the back-end.

I've had to get this issue escalated with Xbox Support after an incredibly long chat with four different support members. It's definitely a rare issue but seems at least a few of us here have been affected by it. However, the highest level of Xbox support
appear to be aware of the issue and seem to be handling things on a case by case basis.
