Profile is not allowed on xbox live

I just updated my profile with a new 12 month subscription to xbox live. I entered the code and it went through, but now when I try and play any games online it says I need xbox gold or this profile is not allowed on xbox live. Why is it not allowing me?

I've just purchasd a month gold membership and its stil saying my profile is not allowed on live and it doesn't say that I've been banned :/ Do I need to wait a certain time after purchasing the gold till it actually works,?

It can take a little while but you can speed things up by running the Xbox Live connection test.

Go to settings, system, network settings, select your connection from the list and run the test. Then try playing online.

If you were signed into the account you are currently on and paid for the xbox live service. The most it usually requires is a sign out and back in for it to work in my experience.
