    Product ownership and offline play.

So I recently moved and have limited internet access. I played my xbox one 4 days without switching to offline mode. (Spoiler, it doesn't really work anyway. Lol) and everythings good until my xbox is unable to confirm an internet connection through its routine check for updates. Suddenly games begin freezing and the console operations sputter. Resetting the console works for a while but my xbox just isn't having it. Finally it puts its foot down with the mighty Error Code E105.

Now this code requires a factory reset and if you recall when you first purchased your xbox you need internet access to setup your system. (Touche' Microsoft.) At this point I'mannoyed but mildly entertained at the idea Microsoft would go to this extent to force an internet connection, but whatever. I do my research, find out about offline mode (Which *cough* doesn't really work anyway.) Do the factory reset using phone as a hotspot, put in my info, and set up my gaming console like nothing happened.

I was wrong, so, so wrong. I checked my 2 external hardrives containing over 240 paid for games supposedly empty, vacated, just gone! I checked storage volume, the space is clearly being used, so why? What's happening? I reconnect to my hotspot and suddenly all my games return. However, I now must remain online to play any of them.

    So here's my questions

    1. Do we really own these games? If I require online access, which by proxy is equivalent to asking Microsoft for permission to access the product? Are these games really mine?

    2. Also, if Microsoft decided to stop supporting xbox one, or better yet went out of business for whatever reason, what then? I just, lose access to all my games?

Mind you I already had this happen to my copy of marvel vs capcom 2 because Microsoft lost the license to put it on xbox one. One day I went looking for it on my hardrive and it was gone. I called support and they were like "Oh, ok. Well, sorry."

And I'm bringing this up to show I'm not pulling at air here. There are games right now that I own... excuse me, games that I ("own") that I can't access because they are no longer supported. I'm asking these questions because games aren't just entertainment now, they're investments. And honestly the way things are, I don't see the xbox one series being worth all that much in the future.

    :)

    80GB MSIXVC File.

    Hi Joker

    Sorry, I was offline . . .

On the link below, in the 'Here's How' section, there is a reg file to download, if you merge that with your registry, that will add a new entry to the right click menu in File Explorer - Take Ownership

That should allow you to take ownership of that file and delete it . . .

Offline mode on Xbox One S "You'll need the internet for this. 0x800704cf" on boot or exit the game

Some games require you to be online to verify ownership, to update or simply because they can't be played offline. What game is it that's giving you this issue?

Xbox One and Backwards Compatible games

Verifying ownership should be done once, and then after that I shouldn't have to verify anything. I should be able to play the 360 games offline.

Gee Thanks MS for the big [Mod edit] to your loyal consumers

They fixed a bunch of [Mod edit: profanity] policies. Offline-Play, Region-Free and Actual Ownership is more important than Family-Sharing.

Also You are misleading people, I did not buy the rights to the software I did however buy the software. While I can not distribute, or claim ownership to the software as the IP owner. I can claim ownership of my copy of the software. This is not a service
I exchanged moneys for, It was a product. which clearly stated its usage in the description that did not include any statement of "online only" play In fact it states "offline play" on every game I purchased. If by some chance your claiming no one has any
property rights to anything they purchased through xbox live. I suggest Microsoft prepare a public relations nightmare.
