    Processing Payments Error Freezing My Account Without Knowing


    I tried to make an in game purchase on Fortnite a few days ago.

    There was an error with a credit card that is active that I currently use and have used on my Xbox in the last 3 months, so I tried again getting the same error.

    I tried with one of my other cards on my account to get an error message again.

    I tried multiple times to add on other cards to my Microsoft account and couldn't. I continued to try to make the purchase again and it continued to give me the error message.

    I tweeted to Microsoft Support I chatted with someone this morning on the support chat and then ended up they could not do anything and said I needed to call the help line.

    After a 30 minute call on help line, my account has been frozen there is no way to unfreeze it and I need to wait for the account to unfreeze now from making purchases or go out and maybe buy a gift card( that might work? the person wasn't sure?) lol

    I asked if they knew when it would be unfrozen so when I could purchase it which I was informed Friday maybe Saturday they weren't sure.

    She tried to buy a gift card with my card online and couldn't even do that. lol

    Moral of the story Microsoft I had my account info, my email, my card, how I purchased it, where I tried to purchase it. Every information ever. You didn't give me a warning I was going to freeze my account. You didn't send me an email you were going to
    freeze my account. And you can't help me at all or let me know how long this freeze even is. I've owned an Xbox since 2010 and I am extremely disappointed in this performance and find this embarrassing for your company.

    Also shoutout to the customer service people y'all have that are under these wacky rules and don't have any help! They were kind when I am pretty frustrated about all of this. Microsoft and Xbox fix these issues.

    It certainly sounds that way. They should know that you never give your details to anyone on the forum. Plus that Gold has always been paid for in currency, it shouldn't be affected by being in the beta.

    Phone support are the folk who are going to be able to help, as they are the ones who will be able to access your payment options.

    I spoke to a rep for over an hour who tried to charge my card and her conclusion was that my card couldn't be charged because I am using the beta dashboard. Is it safe to say that she is an idiot and has no idea what she is talking about?

    I’ve been having the same problem. I was told by customer service at Microsoft that they have had a high influx of fraudulant purchases of the Xbox Live and Xbox digital gift cards through the website along with people’s card information being used by
    the people committing fraud for these purchases. Because of this, they are blocking everyones account until the fraud calls stop and they are able to ensure it is safe to reinstate the legitimate customer accounts. Until then, I found out (and the Microsoft
    rep confirmed) that you can buy the Xbox cards at your local store (Walmart, Game Stop, etc.) and add them to your account using the key code on the backs. Just make sure you’re getting the right card for what you’re wanting to use it for (i.e. Xbox Live/Xbox
    gift card).

    Reactivate your account? Is it currently unable to access LIVE because of an outstanding balance?

    If that is the case then you need to get onto phone support in order to gain the help you need. No-one on the forum or in the support chat is going to be able to help.

    Are you trying to buy DLC?

    If your profile has been on a console that is in the beta for the new dashboard then it will be updated to use the local currency of that profile and not Microsoft points. So in my case my profile would now be using Pound Sterling.

    -

    The problem is that a lot of things on LIVE are not yet set up to use currency, so will throw up errors.
